Transportation from Copenhagen - Aarhus - Berlin

by batmohd

I plan to travel from Copenhagen to Aarhus and then to Berlin in April 2010. Anybody know the cheapest mode of transportation (bus or train) to cover all these places? I'm a budget traveller and flexible on matter of time.

Bus (http://www.abildskou.dk/): Copenhagen - Aarhus from DKK 180/one-way. Aarhus - Berlin DKK 480/one-way.

Tog (http://www.rejseplanen.dk/): Copenhagen - Aarhus DKK 339/one-way. Aarhus - Berlin daily direct ICE train dep. =7:54 arr. 14:27 from DKK 349/one-way.

Hi Jesperp,

I've been in Denmark last week. I've bought my train ticket from Arhus to Copenhagen via online. It cost me DKK209. Thank you for your information.

Travel Tips for Århus

very nice student town

by emrekarasahin

Aarhus is one of the largest cities of Denmark. It is quite expensive if you plan to stay in hotels. Try hitting the hostels there.
Bars, night clubs, restaurants and most of the fun places including Tivoli can be considered expensive.
The prices at the bars are the worst. and the prices are for only 2 cl of beverages, as opposed to the usual 5 cl pricing system of USA
People are mostly very friendly, even to an extent to offer their living room for a night if they find you trustable of course. Best way to see the town is by walking, as my usual preferred method.
Aarhus Sporveje is the local transportation company, and if you get a multiride ticket you wont regret it. Very punctual transportation. YOu can literally adjust your clock by the bus arrivals if you have a time table.
Be aware that the shops close very early compared to many mediterranean countries. If you have to buy something from any shop buy it before 4 pm...

If you plan to swim in Aarhus, it seems that you usually don't need a swimsuit, the tops for the girls at least...
Also keep in mind that the nordic see is very very very cold even in July. My knee was the furthest I could get into the water.
Medical expenses can be huge. Beware.

There is FALCK to help you all the time, but as it writes on the catalogue for Aarhus, they will charge you, of course...

I wish to go back there and would love to stay longer.
If you are not riding a bicycle, be careful about cyclists, as they tend to ride fast on the special bicycle routes. Birds seem to prefer walking around instead of flying for some ununderstood reason.. I am serious. I have never seen so many birds walking around..

Try to hit Aarhus during the jazz festival usually held during july. That is if youd like to listen to jazz music. Many street parades are held, and I have enjoyed sipping my beer, it was allowed to drink at the street then, and just following the parades with many people around.

English is a funny language

by Rupanworld

I am not sure whether all the Danish people think like this or whether this is a customary belief, but I definitely came across this slogan at the hostel I was staying in. It stated, "English is a funny language". For somebody who has spent all life with English as the first language, this is something really worth attracting the attention. I liked the idea of the wall hanging there. Everytime I climbed the staircase, I was greeted by this wall piece and it brought a smile to my face.

The people of Denmark are very warm and friendly; however, they are slow to accept foreigners who have come there to live. After many months, we were able to make friends with some delightful and interesting people.

Packing List

This glove you need to weat aswell, to keep your hands clean from the pure ammonia. Otherwise it would burn your skin. But this glove is not the only one you have to wear, take a look at the next picture.

Ones you are finished your job you are allowed to get undressed. First you have to take a shower, with your suite still on!!!! Otherwise would the people helping you getting out of the suite be ill of the ammonia. The person getting out of the suite is sitting down on a chair (cause the work in a suite like that is very heavy and you are very tired when you have finished the job) and other peole help you getting undressed. Like old times when you were a little kid !!
