Silkeborg
" SILKEBORG - FACTS "
Silkeborg is located in mid-eastern Jutland – in one of the most beautiful areas in Denmark (in my opinion). There are forests, lakes, rivers and a mountain so high that it reaches the sky…
In the older days (14th or 15th century), Silkeborg Castle was located where the city of Silkeborg is today, but the castle was destroyed in 1726. In the following years Silkeborg consisted only of a few houses and a large farm (Silkeborg Hovedgaard), but that changed in 1844 then a paper mill was founded on the Gudenaa (Guden River). The paper mill was the first industry in the area and within a few years Silkeborg grew into a town and a major trade place in Jutland. Today Silkeborg has a population of estimated 55000.

" MY VISIT "
I have very good friends living in Silkeborg; therefore I have visited the city several times. Silkeborg is a cozy town with a nice pedestrian shopping area where you find many good cafés, bars and restaurants.
To be continued…
