Dueodde Camping og vandrerhjem: Hostel camping
What can I say! As the name suggests, this place is a mix of a camp site and hostel. As far as the camping goes, it is three stars. There are a couple of kitchen areas with running water and cookers but not much else, and there are several cleaning stations for camper vans. The hostel is an individual one and has a corridor with dorms but also a whole part with family rooms which were the best value for money we have seen. Our room had bunk beds but also en suite bathroom and a small sofa and table. Everything was clean and outside, we had a great table for cosy meals. In the house opposite was the hostel kitchen should we have wanted it, but we walked across the little forest to Dueodde itself and its kiosks and simple restaurants. As we stayed only one night we also booked breakfast from the hostel and this was probably the only thing we were less impressed with. It had the usual stuff but we had been spoilt all over Bornholm already with fresh fruit and so on, and moreover, the dining room was gloomy and cold. That was however the only negative thing I can say.
Both camp site and hostel benefit from the reception area convenience shop with most things you need to survive food-wise. There is also a playground, including a small barn with a pool table. As cycle tourists, we were also happy to see that the bike racks were long and intelligently built, making it so much easier to park a bike with attachments, tandems etc. and unload stuff.
The place is two minute's walk away from the magnificent Dueodde beach. Moreover, if the weather is unreliable, as during our visit, there is a small but nice swimmingpool which you can buy tickets for in the reception. As it is small and the campers many, you are only allowed to swim for an hour but that's OK.
