So quaint and beautiful
by evaanna
The old beautifully restored half-timbered houses are real gems of Odense and in fact of the part of Denmark we saw on our way. Roses or other plants climbing up their walls add a lot of charm to them too. The cobbled streets and sloping red roofs give the town even more character. You really think you have been transported back in time. And the traditional red postbox with the Danish crown on top completes the lovely picture.
Will he bring them luck?

This young couple have just emerged from the Town Hall after their marriage ceremony.
Immediately after that, as a matter of course - that's why I assume most couples married there do that - they stood in front of the monument to H. C. Andersen to pose for a photograph with him. Hoping for a fairy-tale life? Perhaps, but the great writer's fairy tales are often sad and not always end well. Or just hoping he'll pass on some of his wisdom to them? Whatever they may have hoped for - all the best! May you live long and be happy till death you do part.
Packing List

I was stupid enough to run out of film on my arrival to Odense and I really had problems getting APS film around here, which amazed me a bit. The tourist shops didn't have film at all! So, I wish I had more pics from Odense :o(
St. Knud's church -the altar
by ATLC
This altarpiece was finished just before The Reformation in 1521 and was made by one Claus Berg, commissioned by the then reigning queen. In 1881 it came to St. Knud's church and is covered in 23 krt. gold leaf.
It is a showcase of medieval theological composition with of course a Catholic origin. Christ on the cross, Mary and the infant, teh Tree of Life from where more biblical scenes are depicted. Also the figures of two Danish kings and their queens.
Italian food and cars
by Obak81 about Capri
Located just round the corner from Kongensgade (pedastrian street) Capri is located on the first floor in an older building on Dronningsgade.
The restaurant opened in 1978, making it one of the oldest italian restaurants in Odense.
The interior bears witness to the owners great passion for racingcars italian style.
The food is somewhat mediocre, however prices are reasonable and some of the dishes are of a good quality... and the italian beer is also ok. The mushroom pizza is good (if you are a fan of mushrooms)
