Banegardscentret
by Sjalen
I have put this as a general tip as the centre by the railway station contains much that can make your stay in Odense easier. Firstly, it is the place of arrival if you come by train. Then you can also find the official Danhostel here, as well as several shops and cafés for train travellers. There is also a public library. A great place for a budget base and it doesn't seem that seedy at night even if a station is always a station.
Giraffe
by Sjalen
Don't be alarmed if you see a giraffe's neck in the city centre. It has not escaped from the zoo, but is the very tall chimney of local Albani breweries. These days owned by Royal Unibrew, Denmark's second largest brewery (I bet you can guess the first...) I had the pleasure of visiting it on a study tour as you can see in the other photos :) Not my favourite beer by any means (I've lived in Belgium and have family in Germany...) it is pleasant enough and is what you will be served in most Odense bars.
No special things to pack
by ATLC
Probably good to dress in layers because Danish homes are always warm but it can be nippy outside in early spring. People are quite laid back in dress code. Everything available in Odense shops. Everything available in Odense shops. Everything available in Odense shops.
Tranakaer Slot
by globetrott
Tranakaer Slot / Tranekaer Palace is a lovely palace on the island Langeland, in a distance of about 45 km from Odense. That palace dates back to the year 1200 and some of the walls are 3 meters thick. You may not enter the palace itself, but take a walk around it in a park see an interesting museum closeby. There is also a restaurant with an interesting interior, because that restaurant was built inside of the old horse-stables.
Outside of the village of Tranekaer you may also see a nice windmill, still fully functional and open for tourists.
Unfortunately I cannot find my new pics of Tranekaer and may show you just this old one of 1964, it is scanned from a Super-8-film my father had made.
Busterminal Flakhaven
by Obak81
Although its lost some of its connections as a consequence of the new bus terminal at the OBC, Flakhaven still has four bus-routes passing though, and it is the closest busstop to both the city hall and the cathedral of Saint Canute. Furthermore the south and westbound busses stop right outside the doors of Magasin one of Odenses biggest Department Stores.
