London to Odense Flights
by MikeStarr5
I have not been to Odense before but would like to go for a short trip, maybe 2 or 3 days, just to get a flavour of the place and meet up with some friends.
Would anybody know if it is possible to fly direct to Odense Airport from London at the start of October. I am looking at cheap RyanAir / EasyJet type flights not business class.
If I can't fly cheaply direct, which Danish airport would be the easiest and quickest to go to, assuming that I am going to take the train the rest of the way to Odense.
I am wondering also about the feasibility of going to Copenhagen with EasyJet and then catching a very short local flight with someone like Mærsk.
Any suggestions ?

Hi,
the best way is to fly to Billund airport and then take a bus to Odense. the bus is around 1.30h and stays just in front of the airport when you arrive in Billund.
really easy to find.
it will be cheaper than to go to Copenhagen and train to Odense.
Odense airport doesnt work much now.
You can get cheap tickets on Opodo, flight and bus included.

Thanks for the information guys - I checked out both those options and I guess if I were coming for a little longer than 2 or 3 days I would no doubt go for it,
However, as the whole idea was just to attend a VT / Meetup Meeting, I reckon the cost and the length of time it takes to get there and make make it a bit of a non-starter. I dare say it would be cheaper if I had had the good sense to book a bit more in advance.
Claus - I have been following your progress in your VT díary - sounds like you are having a great time. I was sorry to hear about your accident though - sounds very painful but I guess it could have been a lot worse.
I hope to catch up with you in Copenhagen for a beer or 8 sometime in the new year. Hopefully we can get Charlotta to join us this time too.
Regards
Míke

I guess it doesn't change the feasability much, but another option is to fly with Ryan Air to Esbjerg and take the train from there. Odense is about midway between Esbjerg and Copenhagen
Travel Tips for Odense
Odense
by BarbieGirl
Hans Christian Andersen or simply HC Andersen, (April 2, 1805 – August 4, 1875) was a Danish author and poet most famous for his fairy tales. A house in the old part of Odense has been turned into a museum with a large collection of his works and belongings. Also his childhood home is a museum. In the narrow street of Munkemøllestræde close to the cathedral lies The Hans Christian Andersen Childhood Home – a lovely little yellow thatch-roofed house. Here Hans Christian lived from the age of two until he was fourteen. The evocative childhood home has been fitted and furnished exactly according to the description given by Andersen in his autobiographies. A glovemaker and his large family used to live in the living room next to the childhood home when Andersen was a boy. Today, the living room contains a small exhibition of Odense childhood memories, told by the writer himself.

by Dee22
Brandts Klaedefabrik - is an old clothe factory, but is known as a place rich on cultural offers these days.
Here you'll find different muesums:
An art museum
A museum of photographic art
A media museum
You also find the small cinema 'Cafe Biografen' here.
At the outdoor square you can sit and have a drink or some lunch during the summer period, and people comes here to play chess.
The square also hosts some outdoor concerts and across the square you can find the 'music library'.
The wall paintings in the HCA museum
by ATLC
There are 5 photo's in this tip, where you can see the wall paintings of HCA's life, under the glass dome in the HCA museum. When I saw them and listened to the guide, I was suddenly reminded of a very nice tv-film (or was it a series?) about his life. There was this strange trio-love affair, where he loved the opera singer Jenny Lindt but she married another. On the other side, the girl that loved him was from the family where he stayed from age 14. However, there is a growing theory that he might have been gay, which could shed a whole new light on the the tragedy of his love life.
