Its an OK place.Would not stay here again.Too expensive even by european standards.
Free internet-tea and coffee in the room were the positives .

very well located easy to reach from railway station, clean, quiet
nice brewakfast buffet, open only late on sundays
Great, cheap accommodation in a good location (right next to the station). Small rooms, but all you need if sightseeing etc.

This was our first camping ground in Denmark. You can say the first experience of camping anywhere -as I always thought such thing is not for me. I liked this place so much we decided to stay one night longer!
Kongeå Camping is a family run camp ground, with very friendly owners! Since English is definitely my language of choice I had some difficulties registering in German (which is their language of choice in Jutland due to a large amount of German tourists). The owner helped me out, showed me what to fill in for the needed "Camping Card Scandinavia", showed me the best place to put a tent (as he said perfect spot for us -and it was!) and also gave me a "Visit Ribe" card which was a discount card to some of the attractions in the area. He was smiling the whole time, he explained everything and was extremely helpful, and I was impressed.
The camp ground itself... Well, it is one of smaller camp grounds we stayed in, but I like it that way. It has all the facilities: kitchen, dining area (outside though), bathrooms and a family room (bigger bathroom, useful for people with children). It also has a playground, a large space that is used to play football by kids, and a lovely access to the river. If you like canoeing you can rent them out and swim across to the river! There is also a little shop run by the owners (like at almost all campgrounds). Everything is kept clean and tidy.
We had a little hiccup when leaving – because of our fridge the battery in car accumulator died, the owner said it wasn’t a problem (actually he said it happens all the time) and helped us out, so in 5 minutes we were ready to go! What I can say about Kongeå Camping? I would definitely stay there again!
Clean, clean, clean! Not overcrowded. Close to Ribe/Esbjerg/Wadden Sea. Extremely friendly owners. Beautiful setting.

As students on a budget we used camping grounds all around Denmark (apart form Kopenhagen where we had an apartament). I am not the kind of person who you'd expect to stay in a tent and enjoy camping... but I did! Campgrounds in Denmark are very clean, friendly, well organized and actually enjoyable. All campgrounds have kitchens to use, bathrooms- also family rooms with special baths to wash infants. Usually a dining area, a tv room and a shop. Some have something extra like a playground or a pool.
Campgrounds are a good solution for people on a budget who want to visit many places, experience lots but don't want to spend a lot of money on accomodation!
!Remember! Camping in Denmark outside these areas is illegal! Fines will be given. However, if you own a camper car you can use specially designated 24 parking stops.
!! (To use campinggrounds in Scandinavia you need "Camping Card Scandinavia" - more in a separate tip) !!
Clean! Friendly!
Radisson SAS Hans Christian Andersen Hotel
Odense, Denmark
This hotel is chock full of metal sculptures, statues, and paintings celebrating the works of Hans Christian Andersen. It is almost obligatory to have your photo taken sitting beside the statues on Hans on the bench right outside the entrance to the hotel. I went on a Grand Circle Scandinavian tour in 2008 and this was the nicest place we stayed. The rooms are large, bright, and for those of us who prefer a bath to a shower, there are tubs in the bathrooms. The rooms are equipped with a large, flat TV screen; tons of hangers; a safe; sofa/table/chair combination. The breakfasts, included with your room, are ample and varied. I enjoyed the potatoes and mushrooms and for us vegetarians, there are sufficient choices other than bacon and sausage. The neighborhood around the hotel, Old Town, is charming, with picturesque housing, roses climbing up the walls, and white picket fences. Walking distance to the Andersen Museum.

The best Thing about the hotel is its location right next to the Central Station. You could simply take the train from the airport, or to any place , within a few minutes. The rooms are smallish but adequate according to Danish standards. The housekeeping is regular and the service good. Internet access is free if you carry a laptop. The lacking thing is that there is no tea / coffee facility in the room and room service for anything is charged an additional 35 DKK.
The hotel has an Italian restaurant but we did not find the fare interesting, on the other hand , because it is such a central place, you are only a few minutes from anything. There are multi cuisine restaurants all around. Stroget ( shopping district), Tivoli, Town hall , all are within walking distance. The hotel also organizes tours and trips which you can find out about and use them as their prices seemed reasonable.
Although it is listed as a 4 star i would hardly say so, but it is a decent hotel at a decent price for Denmark.
Location
Dan Hostel has a great location, close to center, river, view and pleasant guests :)

If you ever travel to bornholm and stay in Allinge-Sandvig area, STAY AWAY from Hotel Hammersø. It looks tempting, the location is magnificient. But this hotel is a master of cheating! They have spent all their money on the main hotel and the restaurant to attract rich people, while they put budget tourists in hell in Annex 2. But there are many things that they don’t say to us when we book.
· Each apartment in Annex 2 is IN FACT JUST A ROOM with a bathroom.
· On a rainy day, THE ROOF LEAKS and would rain on your bed, suitcases, tables, allover! And you would be homeless in the middle of the night! (and Bornholm is known for its rainshowers!).
· The garbage containers are forever overflowing, stinking and inviting flies. THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF “TAKING AWAY GARBAGE”!
· The parking space provided with the rented apartments is inadequate. THE NEIGHBOR-LADY WOULD YELL AT YOU and curse you, if you try to park your car in that area!
· Kitchen practically cannot be called a “kitchen”. It’s IN FACT LIKE A “TOY-KITCHEN” with a tiny hot plate. Facilities are scanty with a ridiculous microscopic refrigerator.
· HAS NO VENTILATION AT ALL. After 24 hours, everything starts dripping with moisture. The bathroom floor (no bathmat) stays so wet round the clock, that you would feel like you are entering tropical rainforest!
· Bathroom is 100 YEARS OLD AND BROKEN.
· A tiny TV up the wall WITHOUT REMOTE! And full of Swedish and German TV-channels. (Bornholm is Denmark for Christ’s sake!)
· The bed is awful.
· The meals at the restaurant are so expensive and worthless that it can be called highway robbery.
· The swimming pool is dirty, stinky and icecold!
But they don’t tell you these! So, watch out! DO NOT PATRONIZE these cheats!
