Excellent accomodation

I took a group of 14 young people from England on a dance trip to Copenhagen. I am originally from Denmark myself so I was anxious to make an impression. I chose Bellahoj Hostel as our accomodation. On arrival I was very impressed with the service and welcome received. During the rest of our stay I became increasingly impressed with the accomodation. The bedrooms and bathrooms were clean, the beds were good and comfy, not as I noticed in comments by others - bad, uncomfortable and dirty, this is completely untrue. The food was excellent. When you have 14 people in a group to think about it's hard to please everyone with regard to food. However the hostel provided excellent food with a varied menu. We were out every day and for just a small charge the hostel provided a good packed lunch. I must say overall I was highly impressed with the hostel and would return and recommend it to anyone else.

Unique Quality: Beautiful setting
Easy to get to by 2A bus from outside the train station
Clean
Good food

Nice hostel in relaxing environment

I have styed at this hostel many times. First stay was back in 1996 and since then i have always stayed at the Ballehøj Youth Hostel. I uses to sleep in the dorm rooms which are ok. The beds are clean and solid, but as always when many people sleep in the same room you have to be prepared accept some noice (eg. people arriving in the night, snoring etc.)

The hostel offers nice showers (water sometimes a bit cold) and clean toilets. There is also a room for smoking.

Outside the hostel there is a beautiful pond where you can sit and watch the sun go down at the evening. Very relaxing environment.

The hostel offers breakfast to a cost about €5 and you can buy coffe, tea and beer at the reception. If you think the €5 breakfast is too expensive you can take a five minute walk down to the bakery, not far from the bus stop and get a croissant and a cup of black coffee for about €1-2.

Unique Quality: - Only 4 km to central Copenhagen
- Sheep in the pre-school garden nearby not always quiet (can be a bit annoying)
- Relaxing environment
- Not far from a bus stop
- Bakery nearby
- Free car park

Ouch, my back!

Even now, many years after I spent two nights there, my back still hurts from those terrible beds ;-)

The beds were so old and loud that you woke up everybody in your room when turning in your sleep. Of course this also means that you wake up everytime somebody else turns in their beds.

The whole hostel wasn't very clean. I remember filthy showers and toilets.

As I visited in 2000 this might have changed though. Hopefully for the better....

Unique Quality: A bed in a dorm costs 110 DKK. You will need a YHA hostel card. If you don't have one you pay 35 DKK extra every night.

Cheap accomodation in Copenhagen

Nothing special about this place. It's 4km outside the city and located in a really quiet residential estate. Other than that, the dorms are pretty decent - clean with recently changed comforters. The cafe offers a value for money breakfast @ about US$5 .

Unique Quality: There is a baby grand in the cafe! On my last day there, a stripped kitten jumped on the keys and settled to sleep on the top of the piano. When I left, every diner there had huge grins on their faces.

Danhostel Bellahoj

260Dk for 2 nights, breakfast for a non IYH member.

Unique Quality: Very comfy beds (ok, happy now, Sabsi?!;-p ) but you know what its like when sleeping in a hostel - woken up at 5.30 by 5 snorers isnt particularly nice.
Also you are given a card, not a key, for your room and communal bathroom, but I found it useless, it would never swipe properly. Maybe it was just my card (typical!)

Bellahoj Youth Hostel

Unique Quality: The beds just have been horrible. You could´t make a move without disturbing the whole room. The mattresses have been old and dirty as well....
I had planned to stay two nights but decided to leave a day earlier !!!
It was a good place to get in contact with other people!
