Not your typical Copenhagen hotel
This hotel is definitely for the younger hipper crowd. You must realize that most hotels in Copenhagen are not up to western standards, ie the rooms and baths are very small and the hotels are pretty old. 27 was designed to provide a different type place to stay. The rooms are fairly large, there is cool artwork everywhere and the lobby is basically a huge living room, lounge, dining area, etc,.
Its a very clean place with nice young casually dressed hotel staff. The free food in the AM and evening are a big plus. There is a charge for wine and alcohol but the selections are good.
The Icebar is a real treat, but, its pricey so don't do it on an off night. Make sure it's like a Friday or Saturday.
The hotels in a safe and convenient part of town, close to the amusement park and many shops and restaurants. No one hassles you here and you don't have a robotic staff like in a Marriott. But as a result, you don't have the tourists and screaming kids to put up with either.
Treat yourself and give it a try.

Stylish and friendly
Small but pleasant rooms, stylishly decorated. Free brekkie and dinner and pretty decent too. Stuck in between the Ice Bar and a Antipodean bar, you can crawl into bed after a night out. Great location, between Tivoli and Nyhavn. Free WIFI, friendly staff.

Very nice and cheap hotel
We stayed for five days or something and this hotel had everything you could wish for. Value, cosiness, close to citycentre. I definitely will stay there again when I´m in Copenhagen...

Stylish, but a mixed experience
This recently renovated, stylish hotel is an example of something that often strikes me in Copenhagen: a strong desire to appear really, really cool and cosmopolitan to the world, even to the point of being pretentious or just ridiculous. As, for example, in this hotel's bizarre automated wine tasting bar, where you can get an overpriced sip of wine using a chip card on a sort of vending machine.
We stayed there for just one night in February. Our room was modern and clean, but very small for two persons - there's hardly enough space to put your suitcases. Fast WLAN Internet access is included in the price. Mattresses were on the soft side, but still OK. The major annoyance was noise: the loud bathroom ventilation which cannot be switched off (but muffled with some creative use of toilet paper), the noise from adjacent rooms, and especially the thin windows that provide almost no protection from street noise (I suspect this will be even more annoying in summer). Apparently the hotel is aware of the problem: every guest gets a complimentary set of earplugs...!
The breakfast buffet was fine. Hotel staff was generally friendly, but appeared overwhelmed and even a bit clumsy sometimes, even though the place was far from fully occupied. The location is very central, with the entire inner city in easy walking distance.
Unique Quality: Location, stylish interior.

Great Modern Stylish Designer Hotel
Very modern designer hotel in a great location within walking distance of many attractions. Hotel has a cocktail bar, wine room (see photograph) and an Absolut Ice Bar. Rooms are modern in style and can be rather small compared to some other hotels. Try to avoid rooms at the front of the hotel as there are a few noisy bars and clubs in the street and it can be very noisy till the early hours.
Unique Quality: Wine room is very unusual, self service using a credit type card which can be credited at reception, a good selection of wines to try out.

In the heart of the city
Excellent, it's all I can say. They are renovating the hotel (they plan to finish by April '07), but the task made so far is fantastic. PS: I think they have finished it.
Unique Quality: Copenhagen is not a cheap city, however, this hotel offers good rates, lower than others, and I think offering more, breakfast included. They also have private parking. Very nice and friendly staff.
Single room: 100 $ (80 €) per night, B&B (Sep. '06).

Great value for money
My wife and I stayed there for two nights during Easter 2006. The hotel is now called Copenhagen Hotel 27 and is in the middle of a restoration process which they claim will make the hotel "the coolest place in town" within two years.
The service was very friendly and cheerful. The room was small but clean and very quiet since it was facing the backyard and not the street. The bathroom was also small, but perfectly clean. Breakfast was great with lots to choose from.
The location is perfect just behind the Town Hall and most sights are at a walking distance from the hotel.

Friendly and central
This hotel used to be the Le Meridien Mermaid hotel but since autumn 2005 it has become Hotel 27, named after the street number. We booked it as a last minute deal when we realised we wouldn't be bothered crossing the bridge after a late night VT meeting and I knew nothing about this brand new place then. It turned out to be a mixed experience. To its defense, it had only just opened, so I can only assume that they will work on some of the paintwork and old furnishings in the (small-ish) rooms as they are quite worn. Preferrably, they also add better glazing to their windows. We stayed on the first floor and were woken up by loud merrymakers on their way home from nightclubs throughout the night, and traffic was also quite noisy at times. Having said that, they have made their reception according to a sleek Scandinavian design with white walls intercepted by cheerfully coloured Danish chairs. Maybe this is something they will pick up on as a running theme. The adjacent John Bull pub which was a favourite amongst expats has closed and something else might come in its stead. Meanwhile, the hotel only has its breakfast restaurant but that was cosy enough and left nothing to complain about. Finally, the service comes with a smile here and the location is great, only a block away from the City Hall and with walking distance to the Central station, parliament and Latin Quarters.

Ugly rooms
We stayed here for 4 nights in January 2004. We had to upgrade our room because the standard rooms are so horrible. They are small and decorated in the ugliest colours and furniture. The "club" room was a little bigger and the furniture was newer (but still basic). These rooms don't live up to there name. The breakfast was quite good though. The best thing is the location of the property. Close to Tivoli, many museums and the main shopping street.
Unique Quality: Great location

You want it to be in the center, right?
We wanted our hotel to be in a center and we didn't want something super expensive, so we chose Mermaid hotel (***) which is almost around the corner of Palace hotel (****) which belongs to the same chain (see the photo).
Unique Quality: And the first impression of Mermaid hotel wasn't very good. At first, the lady at front desk wanted "to borrow" my fiance's credit card which really meant she just wanted to write down the number, but that "borrowing" thing made us think she is crazy.. The room was small and in dark colours, bathroom -badly needing some restoration and so on. But the breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was good and was "nice" to wake up early in the morning when the garbage-car comes to our street to take the garbage bins :)
