I am quite convinced that the architect had his collection of Lego bricks taken away from him as a child. As a consequence he yearned to create chunky buildings in adult life. Although assembled from more traditional materials and not a profusion of uncordinated colours (as most children's Lego buildings are) the feeling still seemed to linger.
The entrance lobby is a bright clean atrium with poncey leather chairs and glass lifts leading to the bedrooms. The rooms are well funished and stylish, but the beds are narrow and the rooms themselves lack living space. Try to get a room at the rear as the front rooms have a beautiful view of a motorway and main line railway.
On the plus side, the Gym on the top floor (room key entry) looks out over the docklands area, and the breakfast in front of the wide glass frontage was superb.
