Copenhagen Island impressive experience
Very pleased overall.
I got a good deal through expedia which more than made up for the fact that the hotel is not right in the middle (and I'm glad it wasn't actually). 20 minute stroll or 7 minute cycle (800 metres) from Tivoli Gardens along the river so it's not miles out and you don't get city centre noise. Request a river view and make use of the hotel hire bikes, but get up at 7.00 am to make sure you get one as they don't reserve them. Rooms are compact but clean and Danish design style. Not the broom cupboard that some have portrayed. AC in rooms but not required as temp was a pleasant 25 degrees for the 4 day stay.
My wife was disconcerted by the thin clear glass strip in the bathroom wall which allowed a toilet view! Solved with a strategic strip of toilet paper! Bath and shower excellent. Wireless internet signal weak, but reception provided free cable, so no problem.
Staff very friendly and informative. We used the water taxi to do the sights which leaves from the wharf outside. The service stops at 6.00pm or so, so don't plan on coming back late by boat.
Good and plentiful breakfast spread.
No room service after 11.00pm, but the large shopping centre next door had shops to buy soft drinks and snacks which we kept in the room.
Overall, a nice new clean hotel and none of the reservations I had before arrival proved a problem.
