Happiest people on the planet - Danes
by GirlUpNorth
Just as a general note I'd like to say that Danish people are probably the nicest and friendliest people I've met in Europe so far! They serve customers with a smile and everywhere we went there were a lot of nice people who were helpful too. I've heard that Danish football maniacs are called "roligans" instead of "hooligans" (rolig meaning fun/funny/happy), and I can see it being true. And I also believe the fact that Danish people are the happiest people on the planet! :)
The Secret Garden
by Marpessa
This for me was a quiet little get-away in a busy city centre. It was like walking into a secret garden. It is actually the library gardens, which is a beautiful spot. It has a lovely fountain, with ducks paddling around, large trees, flowers and the stunning red-brick library.
There is a statue here of the Danish philosopher Soren Kierkegaard. Kierkegaard is known as the 'father of existentialism'. (Existentialism is a popular philosophical movement, where life is not so much of the biology of a human being, but of the key characteristics, feelings of a person, like: freedom, fear, consciousness of existing and awareness of death).
To me these gardens seemed to be like a little haven. And while a lot of people (particularly locals) are probably aware of these gardens, it still felt like a secret garden to me, that not a lot of people knew about.
Directions
An entrance to the gardens can be found on the South-East side of Christiansborg Slot.
Expensive to party, pre-drink if you go club...

Winter: Cathedrals and City center architecture, Strogget (walking street) from one end to other, ice skating ring in Kongen's nu torv (king's new square).
Summer: Tivoli, Baggen (25 minutes north, and better than Tivoli, has roller coasters) amusement park, BEACHES. Well-dressed, healthy, educated, beautiful people that all speak english and are very nice and helpful.
Before going to Copenhagen...
by Joana
Before going to Copenhagen everybody I talked to told me that they had loved the city but the mermaid was a disapointment. Ok, it may be smaller than we think but that's no reason to criticise her. I think it is worth to see it. The only thing i could think about after I saw it was that it must be so sad to wait for something that will never come back... ok, i have to face, I got a little carried away by the story... but it's such a pretty story.
See it if you can but not on a cruise, you'll end up not seeing her at all because the boat doesn't go near her and as I said, it's a little small.
Skating in Kongens Nytorv

The good thing of coming in winter to Copenhagen is that you can find a perfect open air skating rink just in the center of the city. While in summer people walk and sit around at that place (I suppose they do so, I've never seen myself), in winter families with kids come to enjoy winter sports here.. Very slippery.. Even I was only watching.. but still.. very slippery..:)
