Hotel Jorgensen

Well what can I say. I met my first VT-er here. Claus. And he happens to work here. The hotel has dorms and a nice sit down area with bar. We got a little drunk there a few times. Great location and lots of shops within walking distance.

Unique Quality: Claus.

Hotel Jørgensen is a combined hotel/hostel right in the center of town.
It can be a bit cramped at times, but it's very central and has one of the best hostel breakfasts you will ever come across.
Their dorms have various sizes, from 4 beds to 14 beds, so if you are in a bigger group then you can often get your own room just for that group.
It´s an old building as it´s in the historical center and the place can seem confusing at times, but it´s a good deal if you are a backpacker looking for a cheap nights stay right in the center of Copenhagen.

This is both an hotel and an hostel, (obviously with different prices!)!: they have some large rooms, with or wihout wc and shower. we were lucky and we had a triple room instead of a double, so it was almost a suite!!
The night before we stay in a 4-bedded-room that was very small, with no wc and shower, but the price was absolutely nice.
The location is very good , you can reach easily the city center by walk.

The only bad thing was that it was very hot (it was august) and the rooms are at first floor, so we heard all the noise in the street.

the breakfast was easy but good, and it's the same for hotel and hostel, but in separates floors.

Many countries in Europe are expensive to travel in. Denmark is no exception. This is a very simple accommodation at a good price.
If you´re the same type of traveller as I am - the ones who think accommodation´s never worth alot of money (you´re just supposed to sleep for christs sake! Spend the money on other things) this hotel/hostel is a good option for you.

This place has dormrooms aswell as regular rooms - BUT; to be able to book the cheapest accommodation alternative (the dormroom) you have to be at least 6 persons.
The price is then 135 DKK per person (2005).

Unique Quality: They accept major creditcards such as VISA, Mastercard, Eurocard, etc.

What can you say about a hotel where Cachaseiro (Claus) is at the front desk? The VT hipness quotient is pretty well off the scale here. The Jorgensen is cozy, friendly, and relatively inexpensive - hey, this is Copenhagen, so don't expect "cheap," but it will certainly be a break to your pocketbook compared to many other hotels in this comfortable and interesting neighborhood, close to the Nørreport Station.

There's a "hygge" bar/lounge in the lobby as well. Rumor has it that it's visited by a number of genuine Danish celebrities who live in the neighborhood.

Located in central Copenhagen - not too far from the Norreport railway station.

Unique Quality: The accomodation is in dormitory style rooms of single sex. They are clean and have adequate facilities. There are also single, double and family rooms.

The best part of the hotel is the Eat As Much As You Can breakfast. I certainly managed to fill myself up for the day until evening time. This is one of the cheapest ways of eating over here. They staff are pretty vigilant though and won't let you take food out with you.
