Housed in an unattractive tower, the SAS Radisson Blu Royal Hotel is probably the most popular business hotel in Copenhagen. It is definitely efficient and does the job, but there really is very little personable service to come with the high price per room. The hotel also lacks charm, even though the rooms are spacious and every effort has been made to give them a sleek Scandivian design look. What I couldn't understand was why my room had two bathrooms! It did come with a double bed (only one), so it would certainly be convenient for a couple travelling together. Alas, I was alone on business (June 2012). Though cheaper than Nimb Hotel, the hotel is quite expensive and for that price, I thought it could do better. Sadly, I will probably have to stay here again on a future business trip...
The Arne Jacobsen designed hotel is a pleasure for the eye, but not so much for the guest.
My single room was very small, and very far from my expectations to a 5* hotel. Front desk staff was unfriendly, and almost rude.
Breakfast is very expensive. However, access to a well equipped in-house health club and gym is free.
Unique Quality: Nice views, stunning design.
Directions: Near Central Station
We were in Copenahgen for 2 days before our Baltic cruise. The Radisson is a lovely hotel who's decor well represents its location. Nothing here is going to WOW you, but overall it's a very nice stay.
Unique Quality: The 20th floor restaurant provides a nice panoramic view of Copenhagen. The breakfast bufffet was served here.
Directions: Wtihin easy walking distance of Tivoli
I was very sceptical about booking this hotel as it was very expensive...but, everything else on Tripadvisor didnt have good reviews. Finally a friend of mine who had also been here also recommended I just booked it. The hotel was bang in the center...opposite Tivoli gardens and it does not get any central than that. The single room i booked was decent. Not huge, but, good enough and comfortable. I stayed for 2 nights and even used the gym which was fabulous. Breakfast was great but it closes at 10:30 so if you are a late sleeper keep that in mind, otherwise dont book your stay with breakfast. Its a walk away from the central station so, just get to the central station from the airport and in 5 mins you'll be here. They fortunately gave me a room on the 18th floor which had an excellent view..so, I quite enjoyed it.
Unique Quality: free wifi, central location
This visit was a long weekend, which meant I had to have an early check in to the hotel. There no problems with this, although it is fair to say it was a visit made at the end of February, when it was cold and snowy. I imagine that in the summer it may be more difficult to ask for this option.
The hotel does a good, standard grand buffet breakfast as the case with most Radisson SAS hotels - excellent meat and bakery products available.
The staff are friendly and professional.
Unique Quality: This was interesting, as there was a room thermostat that actually worked, the windows also opened, even though I was on the 13th floor.
The one really unique thing was that I was given a room which had a single bed - this is in fact the first time I have been in one of their hotels and encountered this. I must admit it was very comfortable and I did have several good nights of sleep.
The hotel opened in 1960, and was in fact the world's first "design hotel". Arne Jacobsen, the Danish Architect, designed the building and much of the interior. One notable design achievemnt is the design of the "Egg" and "Swan" chairs.
Directions: Opposite from the Tivoli Gardens and the Main Railway station
Well placed in the centre of the city, close to the Tivoli. 260 rooms with meals available in the Alberto K gourmet or the Café Royal.
The five star Radisson SAS Royal is one of the most exclusive designer hotels in the city.
Directions: City centre, next to the Tivoli
Recommend it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Upgraded from basic room to a junior suite at no extra charge. Husband told them it was our honey moon and they arranged for complimentary champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries to be delivered to our room. Room was spacious with a bathroom and also another separate toilet across from the bathroom. Only complaint is that I don't think the hotel had been renovated in a while as we arrived during a snow storm and the window was leaking water into the room. Otherwise this hotel was great.
very good service - clean and confortable - huge breakfast .
raccomended for sure
Unique Quality: very good view of the city from the rooms. within walking distance from the rail station.
Directions: not far from the rail station
This hotel is too expensive ,but if you have a deep interest in Danish design or You aspire elegance stay in Copenhagen, this hotel is well worth stay!!! because world famous designer Arne Jacobsen who produced this hotel
there is merit is not just deluxe interior design but also high quality service and good location,
I hope that I'd like to stay this hotel again!!!!
and I'd like to stay 606room(Jacobsen original sweet room) someday:)
Unique Quality: friendly and helpful staffs and gorgeous interior!!!!
Directions: in front of Copenhagen centre station
A very clean and modern hotel a number of rooms overlook the Tivoli Gardens just across the road. Well worth asking for a room with a view of the Tivoli
Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens are a delightful anomaly: a park where you can enjoy carnival thrills, eat pølser sausages under the trees, swill øl in a beer garden, dine in an elegant restaurant, attend a symphony concert, enjoy free pantomime theatre, or sniff the 115,000 flowers that bloom during the park's season. In the evening you can view a firework display in the gardens or view them from certain rooms of the SAS hotel facing Hammerichsgade
Unique Quality: ideal location right in the city center
Directions: City Centre but dont get confused with the other SAS Radisson Hotels you will see on route from the airport
Unique Quality: The best feature of this hotel is it’s location. Apart from that, it’s overpriced and the rooms are nothing special. There are definitely much better options in the vicinity. I would only stay here as a last resort.
5-star accommodation in a central location making everywhere in Copenhagen extremely accessible. It's within a minutes walk of the central station and on all major bus routes around the area.
Unique Quality: The hotel overlooks Tivoli Gardens, the staff are extremely friendly and the Scandinavian-styled rooms are very well equipped.
Directions: 15 minutes drive from the airport and 2 minutes walk from the main shopping area.
The Hotel d'Angleterre, on the Royal Square, has a reputation of being the best hotel in Copenhagen, and it probably is. But if you want to have a real Danish design experience, you should stay at the SAS Hotel, near the town Hall and the train Station. This massive building was conceived until the last detail by Danish design guru Arne Jacobsen. It does not match very well in the environment, but some rooms have been left just like they were designed by Jacobsen. You should ask for one of them.
Unique Quality: Danes are commited to go on dotting the city with the finest architecture and design. This is a picture of the 'black diamond', a high rated building that hosts the National Library.
