Camp site with best facilities near Copenhagen
by ian1917
Hi
There are lots of camp sites near Copenhagen - I can't choose. Are there any sites near Copenhagen with really good facilities - a swimming pool, cafe or restaurant, sports pitch? Ideally one you can reach by bus or train.

Copenhagen campsites are quite basic compared to most other campsites in Denmark, but i think the one at Charlottenlud fort would be the best bet.

Thanks! How far would I have to travel in Denmark to find sites with more facilities? There's one called Dronningmolle Strand looks good, not sure how easy it would be to reach by public transport though.

Dronningmolle Strand is about 60 km from Copenhagen.
Public transport is either train to Helsingor and then train to Copenhagen or bus to Hillerod and the S-train to Copenhagen. The takes 1h20 to 1h50 and costs DKK 103.50 (cash ticket - all zones)/DKK 43 (clipcard for 10 single journeys DKK 430 - all zones).
Travel Tips for Copenhagen
Nyhavn
by Basaic
One day I was sitting in a bar in Nyhavn drinking a coke when I thought there was an eclipse. It was not an eclipse but a Danish Sailor who looked like a Blond haired blue eyed version of Bluto (from Popeye). He was about 2 meters tall and very muscular. He asked in a deep voice "Are you an American?". I thought I was in trouble; but I knew better than to lie it seems it is easy to spot Americans (although I was frequently mistaken for a German). I said yes. He grinned, said "I like Americans" and almost knocked me out of the chair slapping me on the back. He bought me some Danish Liquor. Shortly after there were several sailors around me and we were exchanging stories about our travels.
Information resources on Copenhagen

http://www.woco.dk: Wonderful Copenhagen is the official tourist organisation of Copenhagen and the surrounding area. On this site you’ll find practical information, inspiration on what to see and do in Copenhagen, and also information on transport, restaurants and accommodations. The tourist information is located across from the main entrance to Tivoli (Vesterbrogade) ------------------------------------------------
http://www.ctw.dk: Copenhagen This Week is a magazine published in English every month of the year.
It is distributed free of charge from all hotels and exhibition and conference centres, shops, restaurants and other sites.
The guide is informative and presents information on shopping, restaurants, sights, transport, events and background data. The guide also has information on cultural arrangements like music, theatre and art. Copenhagen This Week also contains city maps. The homepage is great too and here you can read the magazines with adobe reader. -----------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.aok.dk: Alt om København: Everything About Copenhagen is a site where you’ll find reviews on restaurants, cafés, bars, discos and clubs. This is the sites main feature. Most reviews are only found in Danish, but the site still provides an overview because restaurants etc are grouped into vegetarian etc. If you use the site in Danish it is possible to search for very specific terms like Indian food or cafés with easy access for disabled. The site also provides some information on accommodation and on cultural events like theater, opera and art exhibitions.
A lot to see

Strolling up and down the Stroget early on a Friday evening in the winter when it's snowing is my favorite activity. Wait a minute . . . no, sitting at one of the outside tables at any of the several restaurants (like Peder Oxe) on GrayFriar's Square (Gråbrødre Torv ) on a July evening at 10:00pm when it's still light . . . and quiet enough to hear conversations on the other side of the sqaure is my favorite activity . . . or maybe a visit to Ulrik's Bastion . . . It was snowing then sleeting and we couldn't find a place to park. So we drove around for about 45 minutes until we spotted a parking place that someone was pulling out of. We parked and walked around for another 30 minutes and then had dinner at Jensens Bofhus and drank a couple of beers and then drank a few more beers.
It was snowing pretty hard when we left Jensens and we'd had too much to drink to drive but my buddy didn't want to leave his camera in the car so we headed back to where we THOUGHT we'd parked. It was our second day in Copenhagen and we couldn't remember what kind of car we'd rented, where exactly we'd parked, and because every car was covered with 3 inches of snow it didn't really matter anyway.
We met 3 gorgeous girls coming out of a pub and pestered them until they realized we were harmless and they spent the next 90 minutes "helping" us look for our car. We found it, gave the tallest one the keys and asked her to drive us back to the hotel which she did. They refused to let us pay for a cab to get them back to their apartment.

Drink Carlsberg. I may be wrong but I belive there is a street here near the brewery that is lined with pubs and the beer is pumped directly to the alehouses via pipes beneath the street! The Carlsberg is of a much greater quality than in the UK. The elephant label is the best. Singing in a karaoke bar when I had no money...on announcing my lack of cash, I was promptly bought drinks by most of the bar! Not bad for a little ginger geezer in shorts.
Museums
by snorril
There are alot of different museum in Copenhagen. The ones I have visited are the Copenhagen History Museum and the Carlsberg Museum. Both are very interesting in their one way.
The entrance to the History Museum is free on Mondays.
The entrance to the Carlsberg museum is free and you get a couple of beers afterwards. A lot of other museums I have still to visit for example Museum of Erotica, Guiness Records and Tobacco Museum
