Hostel
I've stayed in much nicer hostels in other places - but then again this is the only hostel I've been to in Copenhagen so don't really know what they're up against. Not sure if I would stay there again though.
Stayed in a six-bed dorm which was quite crowded and had a musty smell, despite the windows being open all the time. Long queues for the showers in the morning.
Not the most central location, but it still is only 15-20 minutes to the city centre on foot. There is also a bus stop nearby.
On the upside, they have a great lounge where you can hang out and meet other travellers.

Unfriendly staff
Too bad about the unfriendly staff. Not just unfriendly but even insulting.

Outskirts of Copenhagen Hostel
It's lovely and clean with a great place to sit around, drink beer, and chat with other foreigners. They have a pool table and a couple couches. The dorm room was a bit cramped with more than 14 people in one room and it's nearly impossible to get any sleep. We payed USD 27 per person for the night. It's quite far from the city center so you're best off if you rent a bike, can afford the bus, or enjoy stumbling a long way home from a night of drunken dancing.
Unique Quality: Check out the website. The graphics are adorable.

An excellent hostel!
This is a good place to stay when you are in Copenhagen. It has a great atmosphere, so if you don't feel like going out at night (or during the day) this is a great place to chill. On arrival you are assigned a bed for your stay. And I have to warn you, if you are afraid of heights, let the staff know before your arrival. I was in a 6 bed dorm (mixed) and there were two 3-storey bunk beds. Unfortunately (in my dorm at least) there wasn't a lot of space to move around, but I usually only use the rooms in hostels to sleep in anyway (or to sit on the bed and write all those postcards I promised to my friends).
Also the number of bathrooms and toilets is limited to just a few, but I never had to wait long to use either.
The hostel is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the S-Tog stop Norreport and is therefore close to the city centre and its attractions.
Costs:
Dorm: EUR 17, 50
Linen: EUR 4
Breakfast: EUR 5, 50
Unique Quality: Sleep-in Heaven offers: free showers, free internet access (limited time when others are waiting), pool table, hostel bar (food and drink available), no curfew (open 24hrs), free lockers (insert 20kr coin to release key, you get the coin back).
Check out the cool website below (try clicking on the sheep as they bounce along the screen).

youth hostel
We stayed two nights, and it was the cheapest i could find, it was dirt cheap. Why? becasue we were crammed in like sardines 15 to a room in triple bunks. was a bit worried about sleeping in a dorm with strangers, but it was all fine, especially as i put passport down pyjamas. it wasnt actually all that bad, but i was so tired after the train from saarbrucken that i could have slept on a flagpole. the facilitie are good, the showers are too few and would need a re-haul, but the communal space is clean, free internet access, snacks provided for a charge at desk. the staff were really friendly and spoke perfect english and german. it was slightly too funky for us, we are used to hotels so this was a change to be in such close contact with random people! Its also quite a hike from central station, but the buses are good and the bus driver will tell you when to get off.

Dissapointment
In general, I don't like huge hostels. They are just not that friendly. This one is huge.
I have slept in one of dormitory rooms, 14 bed to be more precise. Ugly one with beds on 3 levels.
And linen was not included although it was advertised on web pages that it is. Fortunately, I had my sleeping bag with me.
Unique Quality: Free internet, snooker.

Hostel in the city
The place was great, nice people about 20 mn walk from the City. You can also take the subway which is really good. There is kebab place near it, I d advise anybody to avoid it, got a huge allergy from their rotten meat. Disgusting.
Unique Quality: Great garden and sitting area.

Ok backpacker choice.
sleep in heaven is a laid back hostel in a very nice part of town.
Sleep in heaven is a very independant backpacker style hostel, with basic dorms and good common areas.
The dorms are very basic and many girls i met complained about the lack of privacy there, but if you can take that then the place is very social and has nice common areas with pool table.
It´s located in Nørrebro which is a nice bohemian part of Copenhagen.
Unfortunately it´s in a bit of a hidden street that can be quite dark at night, but all in all i would say the place is a decent choice.

Nice Hostel
It's cheap and very basic but the staff are all very friendly and helpful.
Only has 3 toilets and 4 shower but holds 100 guests, which can be annoying at times. 2 beers on tap and a pool table and exciting triple bunk beds which could be hazards to climb when drunk.
Unique Quality: Very central to City centre and there is a mural of a naked lady on a building near by, always a bonus.
