Tivoli hotel

Tivoli hotel in Copenhagen is very nice with great beds with nice warm duvets the standard rooms are fairly small but have most of the items you like, on your travel.

Staff was very professional and friendly

The morning buffet was very satisfactory even if it is a bit pricy but as with so many things in life -you get what you pay for. There is an nice sushi restaurant on the top floor with an great view over the city, book an table in advance can be an good idea.

Only little drawback as I stayed here during winter was the dry air from the heating via the air-conditioning system and floor heating solution like the one in the bathroom would have been nice.

Unique Quality: It offers a nice exercise room that are sound proved so do remember to put out the don’t disturb hanger as it is hard to hear the staff knocking on your door. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool and sauna and play opportunity’s for the kids and in the Tivoli season it also have a free shuttle service to/from the amusement park Tivoli plus a set of free entrees tickets. During the off Tivoli season there is no shuttle service and the hotel is a bit of the city hall/centre of the city (10 min walk) there is a public bus stop just outside the hotel running a tourist route around the city.

Traveling With 3-year old in August

by lm8077

I am going to be a "nanny" for my granddaughter in August in Copenhagen. We are staying at the Hotel Tivoli. I am researching the forums for suggestions for keeping her busy. I think the best thing for me to do with her is: eat breakfast, play the tourist, go back to the hotel for a nap and then go the pool, play room, etc. in the hotel until dinner time. Would that be reasonable? Are the places I would take her to close to the hotel? Within walking distance? Can I rent a stroller somewhere? Should I buy a pass for the bus? Are there days of the week to go to say, the Gardens, better than other days? What is the best time and day for the amusment park. I would appreciate any information that would helpful to me. Thanks

Relax! I remember taking my youngsters along. They were not at all in the way of whatever we wanted to sightsee. Restaurants even. Often they'd fall asleep in their strollers. I think the little kiddies should learn very early that it's not always 100% kiddie time. And they'll learn to enjoy themselves too.

Remember, the hotel staff can help you too: Where to rent a stroller, or maybe you could rent a bike with child seat. They might even be able to arrange a baby sit for the occassional evening.

How long is your Copenhagen stay?

The Little Mermaid has gone to the Expo in Shanghai, but a full copy is on display in Tivoli Gardens.

Why can't you take the child's own stroller along? I see them checked outside the door of the plane all the time.

There is a thread in the Misc Forum that could be useful because it is also about keeping a 3-year old occupied:

Travel Tips for Copenhagen

Walking through the streets of Copenhagen

by imeley

Copenhagen is a city that's easy to be oriented with. First of all, upon arriving at the Kastrup Airport, get a free copy of the map of Copenhagen (free!). Start your own journey... important places of interest are in fact by a walking distance unless you'll spend DKK 120 Hop On-Hopp-Off City Sightseeing Bus (tickets available at most hotels in Copenhagen & at City Hall Square) www.citysightseeing.dk. Wear a good walking sandal or shoes.

Always busy, always attractive.. Every minute you can see something different.. So carry your camera with you..

While I was there, I saw many sudden interesting thing, like the group of these people walking. But alway my camera was somewhere, so I could only catch them from the back...:)

One is kind of obligated to view all the statuary in Copenhagen! And though it may seem cliche, most of it is very impressive work! This, of course, is the Hans Christian Anderson statue in the main square!

cruise capitol of europe.

by cachaseiro

This is not really a budget tip, but should you ever go on a cruise in the baltics, then the odds are that you will start in Copenhagen.
No city in northern Europe has more cruise ships arrivals than Copenhagen.
The reason why is the combination of a big airport and a big harbour.
During the summer months more than 600 cruise ships dock in Copenhagen harbour.

For Lithuanian eye that sign has some funny meaning, so I couldn't resist the temptation to take photo of it. In winter time these public toilets were not open, so does that mean in winter you don't need to go to WC?:)
