Travel Tips for Copenhagen

Spires of Copenhagen - Skt. Nikolaj Kirke

by yooperprof

The skyline of Copenhagen is dominated by its church spires, and one of the most dramatic is that of the St. Nicholai Church. Interestingly, the church that was attached to the spire was largely destroyed in a 1795 fire. The space beneath the spire is now used as an attractive art gallery, and in summer months there is a cafe on the pavement outside.

Skt. Nikloai is just a few steps to the south of the Strøget shopping street, and just a few steps to the west of Højjbro Plads with its equestrian statue of Bishop Absalon.

Check the Bridges that connect the islands

by HAROLD_PR

They are feats of engineering! One of them is the second longest in Europe. In order to go from "mainland" to Odensee, you go through one and then to go to Copenhagen you go through a longer one. Check them out! (and prepare to pay 30 euros)

must know that it's situated...

by migdal

must know that it's situated in northern Europe, Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark, and Scandinavia's largest and liveliest city. Copenhagen is part of the Øresund Region which consists of the Greater Copenhagen Area, the counties of Storstrøm, West Zealand and the island Bornholm in Denmark and of county Scania in southern Sweden.

Fish Markets

by reverb

This is just one of the markets that you can go to buy fresh seafood. Being a coastal town the fresh fish is excellent and definitly a part of the Danish diet. I tried the smoked eel and just about got sick!!l It was wat too oily and fatty!!!But alot of people seem to enjoy it..However..I do see alot of the smoked mackeral and wan't to try that one. I also asked about the eggs next to the Mackeral and they were Grouse eggs...and people eat them raw...ok ..that's where I draw the line. The only food I eat raw is sushi ,and yet have to see a sushi shop here in town.Oh well. As far as prices go everything is a pretty good deal. so make it a point to check one out.

Dramatic weather

by bzh

When I was in Copenhagen, I had the (mis)fortune to have a very unstable weather, changing every half hour between brilliant sunshine and rain. However, this provided unusual light perfect for photography, aking the colours stand out. So, do not despair if the weather looks grim, take your camera, put a good waterproof jacket on and step outside.
