On my way to..
by Igraine
On my way to Norway i made a stopover in this place. The next day after i took the ferry to Norway. After a whole day in the car i thought i had deserved some decent sleep.
And i did, and had a decent meal. On John's (johngayton) advice i ate fish, since i was a seaside town. Excellent advice!
A small but busy port

Not much to say about this town, actually. I went here on a seminar, taking the ferry from Oslo and back, leaving Oslo in the afternoon, and returning the next afternoon.
"Booze Cruise"
The ferry trip is also known as a "booze cruise" among Norwegians, since there is a duty-free store on board selling cheap liquor and tobacco (which would normally cost you a fortune in Norway). So Norwegians flock to this ferry, drink and have fun and load their bags with booze on the return. The boat also offers conference facilities, and since a ferry ride to Denmark and back is cheaper than an overnight stay at a hotel, and add to that the perks of cheap booze, a lot of companies stage their conferences and seminars on board these ships. So did my labour union, which is why I went there. For the seminar of course...not the booze...ehrm.
