Skagen, on the northern tip,...
by alberta_man
Skagen, on the northern tip, is a great little village. I recommend a night or two at the hostel there. Be sure to walk up to the sea where the Kattegat and Skagerrak come together. Legoland in Billund should be in your itinerary if you're in Jutland. Århus has a festival at the beginning of September and it's pretty wild. The waitress in Fredrikshavn... amazing!

what you really have to take with you is an umbrella and a raincoat.
also a warm pullover is very useful to protect from the winds on the coast. in summer when it's humid you should have something against the mosquitos.
Big Beautiful Birds
by Zandra
If you like birds and birds of prey in particular, a visit to the Eagle Reserve is a must! There are several shows a day during high season, but check out the homepage for the exact times and days.
This is truly one of the most amazing animal shows I've ever seen! The performance lasts for about one hour; eagles and falcons are being fed and are showing off their incredible flying skills. It's amazing with which thrilling speed they are flying high above you. When I was there, most of the information was unfortunately only given in Danish, but the show is so cool that even though you might not understand what's being said, you'll still enjoy it a lot. It might even turn out to be an unforgettable experience!!!
The entrance tickets cost 90 DKK/12 Euro for adults and 45 DKK/6 Euro for children (age 5-13). Show up early if you want to get good seats.
The Eagle Reserve is located in Bindslev, along the Skagensvej 107, between Tversted and Ålbæk.
Beaches

150 km of clean beaches. The Land of Light is famous for its long coastline and unique sandy beaches. In order to safeguard these valuable assets, special efforts are therefore made throughout the entire area to keep the beaches clean - all year round:
1 November - 31 March: The beaches are inspected once a month and large items of rubbish are removed provided that the elements enable this to be done.
1 April - 31 October: The beaches are cleaned at least twice a month.
5 June - 15 September:
Blue Flag beaches: The beaches are kept completely free of waste, in addition to which facilities such as toilets, emergency telephones and lifesaving equipment are available.
The Blue Flag campaign is an international environmental campaign that works to ensure a cleaner marine and coastal environment and to heighten the general safety, level of service at, and quality of beaches and the sea for the benefit of you as a visitor.
The characteristics of a Blue Flag beach:

Beach numbers
Note the small, green signs bearing beach numbers at the edges of the dunes. Use these numbers in emergencies. When the life-saving staff are given this number, they know exactly where the emergency has occurred and this reduces the risk of wasting valuable time in coming to the rescue.
see the grave of Holger Drachman
by globetrott
Holger Drachman was a sailor from Danmark, an adventurer and painter, who also wrote several books about his travels - he died in 1908 and he was buried close to parking in the Dunes.
When searching for his grave, you have to look out for the point, where lots of flags are blowing in the wind. This place is also a perfect spot to take photographs, as it is a bit higher than the other places. The only better place to take some photographs is the light-tower of course.
