Copenhagen was absolutely full! i was dropping my friend off at the airport and she was flying home and i needed somewhere to stay and i wanted to get to Tivoli for the night viewing - the only hotel that seemed to have a room was with a charge of 55 euro - which was supposedly cheap - phoned Roskilde and what a good idea! only 150 kroner - 15 or 16 euro and a 30 min drive on the freeway so well worth it and easy enough to drive back to Tivoli.
The staff member on the phone sounded very pleasant and helpful but i had to be there by 8 pm as in winter the opening hours are shorter being 8pm closing instead of 10pm in summer, which was no problem but it did mean i had to drive there to move in and get keys etc and then head back to Copenhagen to Tivoli.
There was a charge for sheets and towel but hey i was so happy with the price anyway such good value. I think breakfasts might have been separate as well.
The hostel was easy enough to find down at the harbour below the town centre and handy parking - a new complex with modern or contemporary arfchitecture and very clean!
Nice setting down by the marina with lovely morning scenes, reflections on the water etc, birdlife, and only a few minutes walk to the should-see Viking Ship Museum and also i was luckily there for the Christmas market weekend just there at the marina so i ended up buying a few things made by locals which made some nice christmas gifts to send home to friends and family.
Especially since only a few years ago we found out that my Mums Dads Mum was Danish!

 Lovely hostel by the harbour by bpacker
The lovely lady who ran the hotel, was very friendly too. Efficient lady, she accepted my email booking way before I was in Denmark and was visibly excited when she met me as I was the first Singaporean to stay there!
Hostel faces the ocean. Fantastic views during sunset and sunrise. Also, a stone's throw from the fantastic Viking musuem. The kitchen serves a hearty breakfast in the morning too...

roskilde youth hostel is located right on the harbour next to the viking ship museum and makes a perfect place to stay if you want cheap and central accomodation.

A nice, clean and cosy place to stay. Especially I liked a wide window and a specatular view through it - golden autumn trees. This hotel provides lot of facilities for conferences. However the location of the hotel is not so perfect - almost at the end of Roskilde, there are maybe 3km to the center. But it is in a quite surroundings, quite close to the sea and beaches.
