The name Horsens does ring a bell, where the name comes from, but is that so?

Does the name of Horsens derives from Horse. Hors is the old danish name for a Horse. Did people trade horses overhere? The mainstreet of Horsens has it's fair share of fancy houses, like for example the Jorgenses Hotel so one could think there must have been a lively trade.

In 1317 Horsens gained city- or marketrights. Today it's a city of 55,000 inhabitants mainly living from industry.

Main shoppingstreet is Søndergade, which is a pedestrian zone. There are two other streets with big fancy houses: ABoulevarden and Nørregade. These streets are connected by little streets like Fugholm on the picture.

Horsens has several museums and other attractions and a very nice fjord.

We stayed near a little 14 km southeast from Horsens named Glud. Since Glud is a very small place I mentioned this my Horsens Fjord Page.
