T?rvaaugu: Ski and hiking accommodation

This place is not cheap according to local price level, but may be cheap for travellers used with high prices :) Some years ago wooden house camping cost 400 EEK, no info how much now... but unique thing in this place is that there are plenty of woods and hills around to take a trip bi skies or bicycle or by foot. I noticed two bears only some km from T?rvaaugu camping place, big mother bear and a baby bear with her. Interesting.
It?s less than km to valgehobusem?gi hill, the highest point around with watch tower and ski center developed lately. Enjoy.

Bottle-house, as seen from picture, is very unique, I think... good example of recycling ;)

Nelijarve Holiday Centre

The Nelijarve holiday centre is on the shore of lake Purgatsi, surrounded by forest -- my photo was taken from the far side of the lake.

It's 60km from Tallinn, so about a one hour drive. From Tallinn, head along the Narva/St. Petersburg road and then take the turn for Aegviidu. In Aegviidu, cross the railway line and continue along for about 5 minutes -- you'll see a sign for 'Nelijärve Puhkekeskus' - the entrance lane is on your right.

The Nelijarve is a four-storey hostel built in the 1980s -- it houses 168 people. There are 53 twin and double rooms, 15 rooms for four people with bunk beds and one two-room family suite. The rooms have a TV, a shower and a WC. All rooms have a balcony. It's fairly basic accommodation but the staff are friendly and the location is excellent.

There is a separate villa with seven luxury rooms.

You can hire pedal or rowing boats for a sail on the lake or you can hire bicycles for a ride around the country lanes.

There is a restaurant and bar and 24-hour reception.

The best camping area

Aegviidu forests are the best for camping, You can find alot free camping places with fire-making places, dry closet (DC), dry wood for fire-making, all necessary equipment for making overnight comfortable.

And, of cource, You can find hotels and civilized places for accommodation. For example, nelijärve near Aegviidu have a hostel year-around, accommodating hikers on summer time and skiers on winter time. The second big hostel is in Jäneda, some km from Aegviidu to south. bed and breakfast You can find in Aegviidu, too.

Unique is the possibility to camp on forest with survival instrukctors. they teach You, how to find food in forest, how survive a cold night, how make a fire, how build a roof.
