Valge Laer Hotell: Paldiski's Hotel
we rode our bikes into Paldiski and found this hotel on the main road. The staff were very helpful although communication was difficult because we could only speak English.
they allowed us to store our bikes securely within the hotel.
the rooms were clean, but the TV and the light bulb didn't work - which wasn't much of a problem as we were there in May 2010 and the sun wasn't going down till 9:30pm and we were tired.
the food was good - we ate our evening meal there but there was no beer available then. only vodka or wine. breakfast also was filling, we had pancakes. Tea but no coffee. we were there well before a 'tourist' season, but am not sure that Paldiski has such a season.
If you end up in Paldiski for some strange reason, this hotel is a comfortable, reasonably cheap, food is good and there's no competition.
There was an interesting array of nautical paintings throughout the hotel.
The staff were very willing to help and quite friendly.

Valge Laev Hotell-Restoran: An oasis in the middle of the sad city
First of all I wondered how this modern, clean and nice little hotel could be found in this city. I had expected something else, and prepared for it, so this hotel was a really nice surprise.
I don't think there are many other accommodation possibilities available today in Paldiski; and otherwise too I would recommend this place to tourists. Namely not many people travel to Paldiski for pleasure - there is actually nothing else to see than the old neglected Russian navy and (nuclear) submarine base for adventurers, history enthusiastics and photographers.
Rooms where the standard (quite small) sized, all needed equipment and facilities available. Breakfast was included in the price and it was good. It was served to the table and it contained coffee or tea, orange juice, fresh bread, butter and cheese/sausages/vegetables to be put on the bread.
The reception acts also as a small bar serving at least soft drinks and beer. Try Russian Baltika beer, it's good!
The rooms were clean and new, furniture nice wooden, colours matched. I liked the marine/naval theme that could be seen everywhere inside the hotel and its decorations. Well, its name is "Valge Laev", meaning "White Ship".
Breakfast was good even it was not any buffet breakfast.
