It doesn't look like the most charming, but it gives you a good value for the price. GO Shnelli is the child of private tourism company GO which also runs the train station. Shnelli is the name of the pond in front of tompea hill and was formerly part of a moat. It is a 3* hotel, comparable to a Travelodge with good service and food included. The hotel's mascot is the "spirit of travelling" whose pictures can found everywhere, including on souvenir postcards. The location of the hotel is good, just next to the train station (Balti Jaam). That means that the old town is just a few steps away and that the please is easy to get to with bus, trolleybus or tram (get out at the train station...). That also means that some rooms are facing the railway line. If the view is important to you or if you are easily disturbed by noise, book a room facing the old town. However, the windows are quite good and although I had a room facing the railway lines on both of my stays, I didn't get a lot of noise from the railway line. Staff is really friendly and contributed to an overall agreeable atmosphere.
Unique Quality: Both bathroom and room were clean, the bathroom is a little simple with the shower only seperated with a half-size screen from the rest fo the bathroom. As certainly understood in Estonia, free wifi is available. The TV shows mainly Estonian, Finnish and Russian channels, with an handful of channels from other European countries (e.g. Germany and France) and the mandatory CNN and BBC. The breakfast buffet is good, not luxurious, but with a good choice of hot and cold dishes. If you are into toast, show up early or prepare to queue as there are only two household-style toasters available. I was entirely happy with this place and picked it on my last two stay in Tallinn.
Directions: Next to the central train station, at the western side of the old town
Location excellent for public transport, next to train station. 5 mins from old town - worth paying for view of this. Staff all very helpful. Breakfast buffet very good value. Restaurant in evenings was OK. Rooms neat and tidy. I think we paid £27 a night for a double room with a view and breakfast - a bargain.
Unique Quality: Views at front over the park and old town.
Directions: Next to Balti Jaam - main station
Right next to Balti Jaam, Tallinn's central station, and just a stone's throw from the old town, you'll find the clean and comfortable GoHotel Scnelli. It's not much to look at, but it has great views of the old city from the glass elevators and front facing rooms. It's basic, but a warm and pleasant place, with free wi-fi internet and cable TV that even has English language channels. Thankfully the Estonians subtitle most things, unlike other countries where they dub everything (Germany) or have some guy talking over the top of everyone else (Hungary and most of East Europe).
Don't worry about being close to the station. The rooms are very well sound-proofed, and Balti Jaam isn't all that busy. In fact the best rooms are on the side of the station, as the city facing rooms might have the best views, but also have the busy street. The street is much busier and noisier than the train station!
I`m coming to Tallinn on 31 of December from Ukraine, and wanna have a good time on the New Year Eve. Any suggestions about the places, where I can party with my girlfriend all New Year nightlong, having drinks and nice (house) dance music?Advise -how can I book the places there?
I will stay in Go Hotel Shnelli, so the best place for party - is not far from Old Town.
Thanks a lot!
