Yep another of the old classic hotels here, the Reval Hotel Central. Not the best one and not the cheapest, it is located just in the center of the business district of town, well, I would usually rather select the better and more modern hotels if in Tallinn but depends, this one is not bad either if it gives you tempting rate.
This hotel is mediocre, and disappointing given the Radisson ownership and price. My room was good in size, but had stained carpets, and an old mattress that sagged and wasn't very comfortable. Hotel was noisy - I was woken up several times by people coming in, and kids running up and down halls. Felt like I could hear everything from rooms next door, above me, and life in the halls. Overall clean, but all carpets showed age and shower (when I actually had hot water) leaked water into the rest of the bathroom.
Unique Quality: Convenient location - just a few blocks from bus stop for Bus #2 (to/from airport) and easy walking distance to Old Town, lots of shopping and restaurants.
The hotel is decent, I would say mediocre, the bed is too soft, I think. Nothing in the room to shout about. The breakfast is also so-so. The staff is pretty good, attentive, checking in and out is a breeze. Free wireless internet connection.
Well, for €33 a nite, I shouldn't have complain much.
Unique Quality: A 5-minute walk to the old town, this is the best part of the hotel.
Having stayed in the luxurious Reval Ridzene in Riga, I thought I would also stay in a Reval in Tallinn, and this time being on slightly a tighter budget, I have opted for the 3-star Reval Hotel Central, located close to the old town of Tallinn and relatively convenient for the ferry to Helsinki. Three nights (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) in a single room with breakfast are costing EUR 190 - i.e. EUR 63.33 per night, including breakfast, which does not seem out of the way.
The accommodation is relatively simply furnished but is comfortable - I slept well and the facilities were adequate although nothing special. The room was clean and very quiet - something I have learned to appreciate given that a lot of hotels can be surprisingly noisy.
Directions: Close to the Viru shopping centre and about 10 minutes walk into the old city
We stayed here in November/December 2005 for one week. Hotel is not pretty from the outside but inside it is cafe style, clean, very helpful staff and looks a lot better!
We booked a superior room and it was quite large with bath/shower, Satelite TV, phone and free Wi-Fi access throughout all the hotel. Good value at GB?48 per room per night including breakfast.
And the breakfast is very good. Buffet style, fruit, porridle, cereals, breads, sausages, scrambled eggs, baked beans, pastries etc and fruit juices, tea, coffee.
The hotel is well situated, central just 5 minutes walk from Tallin's main shopping area, 10 minutes walk from the delightful medieval old town and 10 minutes walk from the port..
We would both stay here again if we re-visited.
Unique Quality: The hotel has a large room with a sauna, jacuzzi and showers that you can exclusively book for about GB?13 per hours.........do try.
Directions: Near central shopping area and port. 10 minute walk to Old Town.
