    Hotels Near Old Town Tallinn

    by

Because Old Town Tallinn is such a beautiful place to visit, many hotels are located within walking distance of it. We did not require a hotel since we were arriving by cruise ship, but from collected brochures from several hotels in the area in case we ever return for an extended stay. One hotel that looked particularly charming was the Taanilinaa Hotel located only blocks from Old Town.

The Taanilinna has 20 rooms ranging from economy twins to Double Deluxes that include bath or showers, hair- dryers, Satellite TV, telephone, minibar, internet connections (for a fee), alarm, etc. Furnishings are classic but spare. 2007 prices range from 95 Euros for the economy twin to 179 Euros for the Double Deluxe and include breakfast and VAT tax. Children under 7 yrs. are free. Last-minute specials, internet specials, and packages are offered and may offer reductions of up to 30% but check the website and confirm prices before booking.

Restaurant Taanilinna is a great-looking spot with beamed ceilings and chandeliers, and cozy table seating. Also try the Wine cellar for fine wines and Cuban cigars!! Check out the summer terrace too.

After a long day of sightseeing and walking, the hotel offers a Finnish sauna for under 20 Euros for the first hour. Ten minutes would be more than enough for me!! The hotel has lovely meeting rooms and space for lunches and banquets.

The hotel has 3 free parkings spaces but a space must be reserved when you book your room.

Unique Quality: The hotel looks like a good value for the apparent quality of accommodations and the common rooms of the hotel look particulary appealing, at least in the brochure and on the website. The summer terrace is a nice feature. If the brochure is a true representation, then I think the hotel looks very charming with its unique historical architectural details like the criss-cross pane windows and the abundance of warm wood.

Directions: Within walking distance of Old Town Tallinn, museums and other attractions.
