UNESCO's World Heritage list

The whole centre of Tallinn has been inscribed upon the UNESCO's World Heritage list since 1997. The well-preserved medieval character of the buildings, the powerful defensive walls, wooden buildings and cobblestone streets make you feel like being back in time.
Don't you have to love this language?
by Kathrin_E
Estonian is related to Finnish and that's about it, to the rest of the world this language is totally alien. I would like to learn it but that will remain a distant dream.
Anyway, whe it comes to foreign words Estonian is easy but you need some imagination. Spelling is the way these words are pronounced, so reading them aloud helps a lot. What is a "kauboi preerias", for example? - Yes. A cowboy in the prairies.
German speakers, especially German teachers at primary school level, will understand why I fell in love with that sign...

Drivers stop at zebra crossings!!!
by frockland
Its unbelievable: Estonian drivers stop at zebra crossings for pedestrians! Even on busy 4 or 6 lane roads they will slow down and stop to let you cross! Be careful when you drive in Tallinn! The driver in front of you may break suddenly for this reason.
Keep a reserve of Estonian currency
by brazwhazz
While the Estonian kroon's value is pegged to that of the euro, not all places take euros if you pay cash. Therefore, it is wise to get some krooni before/when you arrive in Estonia.
Since there were no Cirrus ATMs at Tallinn Airport, I had to go to at the currency exchange desk to get some krooni with my credit card.
