The Summer Capital - visited in Spring
Pärnu is often nicknamed Estonia's summer capital - here's where people go swimming in the sea, enjoying the sandy beaches and checking out the spas. This means, that in summertime Pärnu is full of people. A place like that is not really my idea of a holiday, so I prefer spring to visit this town.
Spring means late April - but the Baltic Sea in Pärnu Bay (Pärnu Laht in Estonian) is still frozen. Nevertheless, I walked around barefoot in the sand and actually witnessed a crazy woman running into the ice-cold water with nothing more but a bikini on...
Pärnu in spring is still empty, but worth a visit. It's particularly enjoyable to walk the empty beach or to stroll through the streets.
