Good new spa at Pärnu - drunk people spoil it

    by

The brand new Strand Spa Hotel in Pärnu is the biggest spa hotel of the town. It is modern and nice as itself, the hotel rooms are modern and nice, so is the restaurant and bar.

Also the spa where the treatments are given is a nice tranquil place in its own floor. There is free sauna for the hotel guests; and one swimming pool for adults, one for kids and one bubble/whirlpool for adults with massaging showers and bubbles. This all is free for hotel guests.

The only thing that bothered me was the fact that there were so many drunk people and "rednecks" from different countries (I have to admit that unfortunately also my landmates...) sitting on the stairs (not in bar tables) which was weird to me. They kept quite a noise and caused a terrible cigarette smoke, but luckily the hotel is so big and there is a long distance to the rooms from the first floor bar.

The staff - in the hotel restaurant and bar - were too young and unexperienced. They did try their best with their nice smiles, but if one is 20+ s/he cannot be a master yet. I didn't see even one more mature staff member.

We took an Easter package of 3 days incl. ferry from Finland to Estonia, bus from Tallinn (the capital) to Pärnu and hotel accommodation with buffet breakfast, so I cannot say anything about the normal price.

Unique Quality: Free saunas and pools, free towels etc. It was great relaxation.

Location of the hotel by the sea - even if it was not really close to the old town and city centre (half an hour walk) - it didn't matter as the taxi was so cheap (50 crowns to the old town - appr. 3,3 euros!!!) so that we used the taxi every time to save our feet too.
