A Spa Surprise.

Georg Ots Hotel is situated overlooking the Tori Yacht harbour and the medieval Bishop’s Fort. It’s approx 5 min drive into the village. The village of Kuressaare is tiny but there are some attractive historic buildings, cafes and restaurants to visit. The main attraction is the medieval castle and the parkland and paths surrounding it.

Check in – We booked this room over the internet with a great rate, through www.booking.com and absolutely had no problem with check-in.

Room – Our room 404 was on the smallish size and consisted on a double bed, bedside tables, mini bar, small working desk and a balcony. The carpet was unusual and distinctive with big bold colourful stripes which one could absolutely loathe or adore.

Bathroom – On the small size but was extremely well designed, with a separate walk-in shower and toilet. A good make-up mirror and vanity suite. Dressing gown was also supplied.

Restaurant – Breakfast had a fine selection of cheese, cooked omelet’s, pastries and pancakes.

Dinner – We dined outside on the terrace and had a pleasant meal. Although not a huge menu it was adequate and the wine selection was excellent.

Facilities –
The dominant thing about this hotel was the indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and the various spa baths set with different temperatures and sprays to choose from. There were plenty of massages to select and indulge and pamper yourself with. This hotel is a great place to relax and unwind from any former stress from driving or traveling on the road.

Tips – Its best to pre book your ferry trip over from Virtus the queues were long and it took us two hours to finally reach the port of Kuivastu.

We noticed pre booked cars just drove straight onto the ferry whilst we had to buy a ticket and queue with everyone else. We did however travel on a weekend with a festival happening in the Bishop’s Fort. The ferry ride takes approx 30mins and there are several ferries operating at the same time.

Unique Quality: Overall – An interesting hotel offering excellent spa facilities which was appreciated after a long drive through the island.

We wanted to use a spa and fitness center ... There are 3 spa hotels next to each other. We choosed Georg Ots.

City center about 5 min walk. Great walking places nearby. Fitness center very basic. 3 pools. Sauna. All included in the price. Free Wi-Fi.

Spa Hotel in Kuressaare

by niamey00 about Georg Ots Spa Hotel

Kuressaare is trying to remake itself into a year-round spa destination. Georg Ots is one of the newest and best of these spa hotels. The rooms are Scandinavian in design, well planned with views of the harbor or castle. It has a full service spa, a small gym, and various indoor and outdoor pools and jacuzzis. Great for a weekend getaway with or without the kids! Indoor and outdoor pools of varying temperatures, jacuzzis, saunas, good restaurant.

Surprisingly pleasant ...

"Service is good"

In hotels and restaurants the service was friendly, professional and to get by with English only was no problem. Nature very well preserved.

The place is relatively uncrowded, tranquil, no noisy parties .... almost no Eastern block tourists with their own weird behaviour, no drunken Brits ... so the place passes the first test be qualified as a pleasant :)

Weather is a gamble, however. Car is a must, I believe.

"Hotels"

Lynn Hotel: friendy, clean, reasonably prices, in the city center.
Mardi: cheap, decent, 3 min walk to the city center.
Georg Ots: spa hotel, two pools, sauna, very basic fitness center included in price, friendly.

"Restaurants"

Every restaurant located on the central square in Kuressaare is pretty average. Service is reasonably good, food is rather average.

Two restaurants down the Lossi street: La Perla and another one about 50 m down the street are probably the best ones. For La Perla -- make a reservation, if in high season.

Sare: in the very southern tip of Saaremaa, there is a restaurant, a rather decent. Authentic fish. Very specific "spicy mexican cake". Generally, impression is very good, English no prob, meals rather small.
