The location is pleasant as the name suggests in a Park making it nice and quiet. Its pretty handy for the main square in Tartu which is around a 7 or 8 minute stroll away
Rooms are adequate without being anything brilliant. The shower is good with plenty of hot water.
Breakfast is fairly standard fayre that you get for this part of the world. Nothing superb but it fill a a hole in the stomach.
I wouldn't have any concerns with staying here again.
Park Hotel is Tartu's oldest hotel. It was finished in 1940 and originally owned by the YMCA. City architect Arnold Matteus provided the design. Very soon after the Soviet occupation came and the house became property of the state. In Soviet times it was the best house in town where even state guests were accommodated. Those times are over, though.
The Estonian-style breakfast buffet is good but a bit unusual for foreign visitors (fried herring for breakfast?) but there is "normal" food, too.
Unique Quality: .
Pro:
Location in the middle of a park, absolutely quiet
Right behind Toome hill, conveniently close to the old town and unversity
Price level is what people like to call "reasonable"
Large rooms, the bed was far more comfortable than it looked
Contra:
The building is a bit run down. I do not think this is still the first house in town. The hole in my wash basin required putting the garbage bin underneath to catch the water, for example.
