Its very clean and due to the lack of tourist in town I had a double room all for me, paying the price of a double of course. Employes are very nice people and always tryed to help me in all info i asked them for.
The Youth Hostel "Ferijalen Dom" is situated near the City centre and offers single and double bedrooms. Prices vary from 935 denars per bed per night in a double bedroom for ISEC holders, 1280 denars per bed per night in a single bedroom (1280 and 1590 denars for non ISEC holders).
Each room is equipped with bathroom and shower, some may also have TV. When you get off the bus from Skopje to Ohrid, more often than not local people are waiting at the bus station to offer you a room. Keep this in mind before you book an expensive hotel! I cannot actually say that I have gotten a room like this myself, since my family-in-law have a house in Ohrid.

If you are going to hike in the Mavrovo National Park, you could stay in the mountain hut near Tajmiste. It is a simple but clean mountain hut, with about 40 beds. You probably have to share your room with other guests if it gets busy.
This used to be an old railway station, that has been renovated. You enter the site by car through a small tunnel from the road to Tajmiste (see pictures).
There's the possibility to have a BBQ and campfire (and to drink rakija!). Like other mountain huts, you have to bring your own food and drinks.
The mountain hut is run by volunteers from Mountain Club Kitka (Rabotnicki Kitka), and you have to contact them to ask if the mountain hut is open or if they can open it for you. If you want, I could also arrange something for you since one of the members of the hiking club that runs the place is a friend of mine.

When looking for a place to stay in Ohrid: have in mind that there are a lot of hotels situated along the coast of the lake... prices are around (I think) 30 Euros a day (sleeping and three meals). But there are also many rooms for rental, which is a good idea because it gives you more freedom, and besides why eat in a hotel when there are fantastic restaurants...
The rooms aren't expensive (though of course during the summer season they are usually higher), and well the hotels - it depends, but they don't have some outrageous prices anyways... You can always ask there...

Youth Hostel in Ohrid-just a few miles from the downtown portion of Ohrid.
For only about 200 denars (About $2.50) you can have a room right on the lake. The view is amazing..especially at night when the sun set over the mountains and leaved a breathtaking view.
The accomadations are not outstanding, but perfect for any low-budget traveler. Theme: HostelComparison: least expensive
