Dream for Photographer - Lanes and Houses

Für jemanden mit der Leidenschaft zur Fotografie ist Ohrid ein Traum. Malerische Gassen, Häuser und liebenswerte Details, die Leben besitzen. Details, die etwas zu sagen haben. Ich liebe alles was aus der Reihe tanzt, keine Regelmäßigkeit besitzt. Ich liebe Linien, Licht und Schatten, Gegensätze und Farbtupfer. All das hat Ohrid zu bieten. Ob in der Altstadt oder im Alltag am Rande.
For somebody with the passion for the photography Ohrid is a dream. Picturesque lanes, houses and lovable details which have life. Details which have something to say. I love everything what break ranks, does not have regularity. I love lines, light and shadow, contrasts and spot of colour. All of this Ohrid has to offer. Whether in the Old Town or in the everyday life on the edge.

My favourite thing was with no sort of doubt the peace, relax and clean air that offers a remote place like this... i couldnt imagine a place lije this from my hometown the first day when i left to Eastern Europe.. once there you realize how world and life can dazzle you in many ways and many places like this !
Scratching out the saints' eyes

OK, when you go into a church in Ohrid (and not only in Ohrid but in other churches in Macedonia) you will most probably notice that some of the fescues are damaged badly and if you look for similarities, you will find out that usually the eyes of the saints are scratched out.
At least this drew my attention and I asked people who were walking me around if there was a reason for that. The answer was that local people believe that the eyes of the saints have healing power. All you have to do is to scratched them out from the fescue, dissolve them into water and drink them.
I do not know if it is true but if it is, at least it proves that it is not a simple contemporary act of vandalism but some sort of weird tradition. Which, of course, is still no excuse for damaging so badly these beautiful frescoes that had otherwise survived during the centuries.

Yes, there are GYMS in Ohrid.There is nice GYM in the Sport center.Not too big,but quite nice.If you need a place to stay,you can contact IGOR on pianoigor@yahoo.com.He has nice apartment and he can tell you the exact location of the GYM.

Rent a scooter and go exploring! It's an incredible fun but be sure to inform someone of your intentions - the region is not very secure! The breathtaking beauty of the nearby mountains and the lake will make your day only if the garbage all around have not spoilt it beforehand!
