Miscellaneous Tips, Prilep, FYR of Macedonia - Reviews and Hotel Information

Just enjoyed (or should that be "endured"?) four days in Prilep and boy, was I glad to get back to Skopje...! If you are looking for a cheap, modernish base to explore this region of Macedonia, then this hotel will fit the bill. If like me you are there on business, then I would recommend that you look elsewhere, possibly a little further south in Bitola.

In fairness the staff were 100% helpful and room service was prompt and of a decent enough standard that you won't starve.

A couple of warnings - If you have heavy cases or bags then start working out as the only access is a steep stairway up into reception. Also, the Kristal Palas seems to be the wedding reception venue of choice and on each night I was there a party was underway in the restaurant - unfortunately I was down on the first floor and the restaurant is above, so I was roundly entertained by music, cheering and dancing feet.. Say what you like about the Macedonian people, but they love a good party.

There are worse hotels around, but then again there are better; it's purely a matter of choice. I've stayed in worse, much worse, but I was pleased to see the hotel disappearing in the rear-view-mirror yesterday morning.

One final piece of advice - don't leave any loose change, of any denomination, laying around your room. To you it might be pocket money, but to the cleaners it is a tip.
