The second one is the best. you can buy it on line or on arrival in Town.
If you are arriving with car, take this direction. Once you cross the border, for about 3 km the road is ordinary one line each side, after MAKPETROL Petrol Pump, the Motorway starts, There you have toll, you will need to pay 50 MKD denars, folow the direction ATHENS.
Then about 15km you will see on the right, big Petrol rafinery, OKTA.
Pass that and another 3 km there is exit for Skopje.
Just follow the road, you will join another motorway from the right, and you will have another toll, you pay 30MKD denars, just follow the road to CENTAR.
It will bring you right into the hart of old Skoje.
In one of the MAKPETROL petrol stations you can buy your Skopje map, if you decide to get one. Great map worth the money. About €2.50
Happy travels.

If you right-click on the map mentioned above by jesperp, you can save it and print it.
Be aware that although most of the streets in Skopje have streetnames, the names are not shown along the streets. See it as one of the charms of Skopje :-)
There is a new beltway/ring-road around Skopje, so the situation may have changed slightly...
Cheers,
Dennis

Travel Tips for Skopje
Info Sign
by hekate
If you want to act as a typical tourist you might want to stop for a moment when you see a sign like that and read it.
You will see the here and there in Skopje attached to the walls of some buildings. The signs provide some curious facts and historical information about the building they are attached to.
To make tourists life easier they are written in 3 languages: Macedonian, English and French.
Statue in front of The Old Railway Station
by johnsakura
The Old Railway Station was destroyed by the Eeartquake.
Time of the Earthquake: 5:17 am - The clock in the preserved ruins of the old railway station remained frozen at 5:17 am, the moment that the predawn earthquake turned Skopje into landfill. Today the old railway station is the Museum of Skopje, inside in the garden are many coffee bars.
Take Your Time - Not Rush
by elgin99
In the barzaar no one is rushing. No better place to make you free from the fear you may be late. Bazaar is an oasis in he modern world. Everywhere you will find places for a rest, tearooms coffee bars, restaurants.
And you need time, yourself, because no one... remember...
And Warning!
Not enough money and a woman? Very bad. You will get problems because you will flip out about unique jewels there! Everywhere... a lot of stores!
Not enough money and a man? You will get the same, too... because of your freaked out wife. *lol
BTW, jewels only will sell by weight of gold or silver of the piece. You should ask and ask, look and compare. So, what you need? Of course, time!
A Macedonian Orthodox Wedding
by shrimp56
Last summer I attended this wedding in Skopje. The photo shows some of the traditional elements -- the candles, the crowns and the bread & salt. We were lucky -- it can go on for hours -- but the couple had bargained down to 45 minutes!
.
PLease click on the picture for the detail.
The City Stadium in Skopje
by shrimp56
This is a view of the sports stadium from Kale at sunset. It is the white curve on the left. The reason there is only one white curve is because they discovered that the ground on the side near the Vardar river would not support such as structure. The total capacity is 30,000. Be sure to bring a hat, water and sunscreen if the event you are attending is in the summer.
