Kvívík Igloo House

by seaouk

This is a fully self catering house, but with the option to pay for cleaning on leaving.
There is every thing you need here to be fully self catered with a small oven, microwave, hob and fridge freezer.
It has a wood burning stove, which is lovely in the evenings as the chimney goes up the centre of the house warming the whole place.
It can sleep 2 with no problem although they advertise that it can sleep more but I am unsure where these people would sleep other than the floor!

The biggest unique thing about this accommodation is the shape. It is fanastic to stay in with the shower being the best thing, with all the different angles.

Hotel Streym: Let Aage take care of you

by MartinYarnall

We stayed in Hotel Streym. This suited us very well. The owner, Aage, was tremendous fun and very helpful. As was Sunuwar (we think it was spelt like that).

The rooms were a little on the small side and we felt a bit cramped. However, hotel had everything we needed and we were allowed to drink our own beer here (which certainly saved us a few quid).

You can hire cars from the hotel. Would definitely recommend doing this for a couple of days as not only are some places tricky to get to, but the public transport is not always convenient (albeit very reliable). The buses are also quite expensive (£10 single to Klakvik). Therefore, a car can work out pretty cheap (about £50 a day). Petrol is slightly cheaper than in the UK.

We did have a great view.

Free internet access.

The Faroese ladies Handball team were there one night (wah wah wee wah!).

Greengates Incoming: Good agency

by davidcross

The Faroe islands are not the easiest place to find accommodation in advance.

We stayed in an apartment with a friend who had booked it through Greengates Incoming and they also deal with hotels, b and b houses and other accommodation throughout the islands.

It was a three bedroom apartment. All three and the living room, kitchen and bathroom were spacious and there was al equipment and appliances you could want - including unlimited computer access.

Camping

by JLBG

Not really a camping ! When I visited the Faroe, it was possible to camp freely everywhere as there is plenty of space on the beaches.

Elena, living in Thorshavn, tells me that today, this is not true anymore and that there is no public space, that every piece of land is private. Then you should either to look for a camping or ask to the owner of a land to camp.

Drizzle is outstanding.

Skansin Guesthouse: Guesthouse

by zweiblumen

A small (11 twin rooms) and friendly guesthouse within easy walking distance of the centre of Torshavn.

Views out over the harbour and the island of Nolsoy

Gjáargarður: Youth Hostel

by zweiblumen

A modern but traditionally turf roofed hostel in the tiny picturesque village of Gjógv. Basic but clean accommodation.

Nestling beneath the Faroes highest peak, Slættaratindur (882m) with great views (weather permitting) of the surrounding hills.

When I was at/in/on/whatever...

by foadtoad

When I was at/in/on/whatever the Faroe Islands with my friends, we stayed at this church for sailors. KFUM i think. at first. we moved around since faroe consists of many islands. so we also lived in private houses. The faroese people are friendly, but also a bit suspicious towards strangers..a bit. I don´t really know if there are any hotels there..but there must be.

Well..great because it has everything from kitchen to table tennis. And very very cheap.
