Great Location and (Relatively) Cheap
Hostel Erottajanpuisto was a great place to stay. You can walk to all of the major locations in the city and it's very close to all the major tram lines in case you need to take a tram either. It's also not too far from the bus/rail station and the ports - I was able to walk to here after getting off the bus from the airport and I walked to the port to take my ferry to Tallinn, it saved a lot on potential taxi expenses.
There is someone on staff 24/7 and a kitchen with a microwave, stove, and refrigerator to use. There are also plenty of dishes and utensils, so no worry if you didn't bring your own. There are also plenty of grocery scores within walking distance to get food from too.
Bathrooms and showers are shared, but there are enough that there usually isn't a long wait. There was only one morning where I had to wait about 30 minutes to take a shower, but the rest of the time it was open whenever I wanted. Each room does have its own sink though, so you never have to wait to brush your teeth or anything like that either.
It's a bit pricey - but the whole city is and, despite the cost, it was still the cheapest option I could find. Overall I was happy with my stay here.

Clean and well located place
I enjoyed our stay in the hostel, because il was well located and clean. Anyway the staff was not really helpfull but it was not dissapointed for me. Anyway one detailed I liked is that the beds where done, with their sheets, blankets, pillow and towels.
Unique Quality: There are a wide variety of rooms and we managed to book a room with five beds for a group of five friends.
There are two sides in the hostel and in our part was the living room and kitchen and two toilets - showers for an average of 30 people. There are also free Wi-Fi and one computer with Internet.
It's placed in a second floor and there is not elevator.
Another good thing is the bar next door of the building, with its kitchen open till late (at least considering the Finnish schedule) and with very good ambient of young proffesional people.

Tiny little hostel with excellent location
This tiny, but clean hostel has 50 beds and 15 rooms, ranging from single to 8 person single sex dorm. It's advisable to reserve in advance - especially in summer due to the size of the hostel. The facilities include 24h reception (there is no lockout or curfew), free internet connection, wireless access, guest kitchen/common room and security lockers. A bed in a dorm start from €23,50. Linen and towels are included in the price.
The location of this hostel is very convenient. It is just off Erottaja and Bulevardi. Tram no 10 and bus no 17 will take you nearby to Erottaja street and trams no 6 and 3T stop at Bulevardi (You'll find the hostel just around the corner).
€2,50 discount per person per night with the Hostelling International card (also available at the reception for €17).

One of the best hostels I've stayed in
A small and friendly (so long as you don't make a mess in the kitchen) hostel right in the heart of Helsinki. This is how hostels should be. Free wifi internet access, a nice kitchen / dining room / lounge area, secure lockers, 24 hour reception, linen provided (you don't have to pay extra like in a lot of Scandanavian places) and all very clean.
The hostel is in an old building, on the 2nd floor (no lifts). Dorm rooms and private rooms are available.
The only criticism I have of the place is their recycling policy. They only appear to recycle bottles. No bins for recycling tin cans or paper.
Unique Quality: The atmosphere in the place. It's hard to describe, but I felt very comfortable there, and I've been there almost two weeks now, when I'd only indended to stay for a few days when I arrived. Perhaps it's partly down to the people who go there. There is a wide range of ages and nationalities.

The best hostel in Helsinki 2005
Voted for the best hostel in Finland for the year 2005 and though I haven't had any need for accommodation in Helsinki I have to agree.
Unique Quality: Simply the best hostel in town.
Great atmosphere and even better staff.

Erottajanpuisto Hostel
This was an amazing place I found after searching for at least 1 hour for a affordable place to stay in town. I found a couple of others hostels which were closed for winter period so this is good as it is open year round.
Unique Quality: Staff are so polite and nice.
The bathrooms and living room are very clean and you can actually cook in the kitchen equiped for your use.
You can have internet access on the living room, the type of kyosk with coins per minute type of thing.
They have dorm bed, singles and doubles.
25/46/60 euros.
Check out is 10am, close to the city centre, I mean, not too far away, and dorm rooms have 6 beds inside.

The best hostel in Helsinki?
As I am from Helsinki myself, I haven't stayed at this (or any other) hostel in the city. But if I had to stay at a hostel in Helsinki, I would choose Erottajanpuisto for its location and because it's smaller and presumably cozier than for example Eurohostel (which is not bad either).
Unique Quality: The location of Hostel Erottajanpuisto is very central, just a few minutes' walk to the Stockmann department store. It's on Uudenmaankatu, where there is a vivid nightlife with plenty of bars and restaurants.

Questions and Answers
Q: Do busses run to the airport 24/7? If not, what time do they start? "I need to get to the airport by 6 AM on Sunday (so I probably need to get on the bus around 5:30 AM), will the 615 or the Finnair..."
A: "I walked down to where the 615 departs from but I didn't see any type of time-schedule listed anywhere. :/"
