Unique location
I stayed one night in this hotel (AUG06). I really liked the athmosphere what the building has. The staff was friendly, the room was clean (as they normally are in Finland. No exception.)
For the breakfast I had the best Cappucino ever! Apart from the different selection of coffee there were rolls, ham, cheese, cerials, yoghurt, porrige, juice... Quite OK breakfast.
The room was quiet, as the whole hotel.
Unique Quality: Mostly I loved the fact that this hotel is located a walking distance from the city center. Hietalahti flea market is located at the next block: at the west end of Bulevardi. The near by streets has plenty of small shops and boutiques for clothes, shoes, furnitures etc.
There is a groceries at the street corner of this hotel: Alepa. Also a sandwich shop is located next to the hotel (how do I always spot where to get some food??).
Plus was a free internet in the business lounge. No pre-reservations needed, it was possible to surf as long as the next customer came.
The only minus was that the tram does not go outside the hotel.
This hotel used to be the "Lord Hotel" but now it is renamed Hotel Linna. Why? I guess it has new owners.

Wedding reception Helsinki
Hello, I would appreciate your advice on good venues for wedding receptions in Helsinki. I'm getting married early September 2007 at the Tuomiokirkko and would like to have the reception close by. We're inviting over a hundred guests from abroad and I really need help in finding a nice place with good food that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Thanks a lot!
RE: RE: Wedding reception Helsinki
Hello,
If it can be something else than restaurant, here are some places where You can organize the reception:
I have been to a wedding in Rakesali, more information: http://www.klauskhotel.com/sali.php?l=en
In Tulli- ja Pakkahuone, I enjoyed nice birthdayparty. I do not now if they have information in English. Here is a link to Finnis page:

Further away is very nice place Merimelojien maja just next to the sea:

RE: Wedding reception Helsinki
Hi guys, thanks for your tips. I've been in contact with Kappeli, unfortunately it's too small. Hotel Linna is very nice and I've received an offer from them. One thing Hotel Linna lacks is the possibility to go outside for a bit of fresh air, and I'm starting to think that maybe one of the island restaurants is the right place to be? I'll check out the Merimelojien now. - BTW John: your ex-father-in-law is probably glad now that he didn't waste more money on your wedding, donn't you think ;-)
RE: RE: Wedding reception Helsinki
Hotel linna group of companies also has an island restaurant, an old fort well fitted out. Särkänlinna I believe. The same person who made you the offer for hotel linna can make you an offer for there.

Questions and Answers
Q: Do busses run to the airport 24/7? If not, what time do they start? "I need to get to the airport by 6 AM on Sunday (so I probably need to get on the bus around 5:30 AM), will the 615 or the Finnair..."
A: "I walked down to where the 615 departs from but I didn't see any type of time-schedule listed anywhere. :/"
