White Nights
I visited Helsinki in June and was rewarded with some extra hours of daylight. It was actually the first time that went north of Germany in summer and I liked it! Petty though that I missed the midsummer celebrations :).

Hello all!
Tell me is there in Helsinki shop which sells delicacies from Lapland? Products Lapin Liha or similar ...
Well... I had in mind something like http://img-fotki.yandex.ru/get/2711/valokuva.10/0_22cae_3524e01a_orig
There's no demand for such an outlet as Lapland produce is not considered exotic here. The Stockmann department store's delicatessen can provide everything - Lapland breadcheese, cloudberries, reindeer meat and so on - but not in a separate section. You will have to look in the cheese, fresh fruit and meat areas for them.
If you want, ask for Lapin liha sales-person: maarit.autti@lapinliha.fi
I also find info, that bear meat (witch was in your photo) in a can is sold in Stockman, made by Riipisen riistaherkut oy. They also have reindeer in a can.
http://www.riipisen.fi/en/
The page of Stockman selling it was 2 years old, but go and ask for it, it´s very possible that they still do have it.
Me myself never by meat in can. But if you want bear (= karhu or karhun lihaa in Finnish)you can get it only in a can. Reindeer you can have from freezer or vacuum or fresh at meat-desk.
By the way-if you see word Karhu in a can, and it feels like liquid, you are holding most popular Finnish beer. ;) (If you ask me,it´s not so special)
Karhu-meat might be expensive, it´s not very common. You might find it also at some restaurants. Here for example:

Thank you all for the info! In Stockmann I really found canned reindeer and elk, sausage from reindeer and bear, as well as dried meat ...

I lived in Helsinki for 6 long, cold, dark months. Helsinki is a very clean, beautiful, safe city. Their public transportation system is the best that I have ever experienced, bar none.
I enjoyed going to the open air market harbour on the weekends.
Being from Florida, the only thing that I really didn't care for in Finland, other than the cold weather and snow was the food.
I made do, though, by just cooking at home. I made many passable southern meals. Now, if you like smoked fish, you may enjoy going out to eat there. I went to Stockholm via overnight ship a few times and had the dinner buffett and it was really good. How clean and safe the city is. What a wonderful public transportation system they have. The quite, shy nature of the Finns.
Hey, in the summer time there are free concerts in Helsinki. Many of them arranges in Kaivopuisto, which is a wonderful park in South Helsinki, about 2 kilometer from Railwaystation to south. (Nearby market square and ferry harbours) If you don't want to walk, take a tram 3b or 3T. But beware, in the concert time they can be very crowded of people with bottles;)
Best concert has always been Helsinki Day's free concert, which is celebrating birthday of our capital. This day is 12th June and last summer this concert was totally succes=)
There were over 75 000 watchers and that's lot. 'cause there lives 500 000 inhabitants in Helsinki. The biggest name was Shakira, but there were also many more good stars. And all for free, from our City Manager Eeva-Riitta Siitonen to all of us Helsinki-lovers. P.S. Next summer the Rolling Stone is coming to Helsinki, but the concert is unfortunatley 'normal' one with the high price tickets. But it is in Stadion and there are nice parks nearby, so just go to picnic and listen to the music.
Tennispalatsi houses the Helsinki City Art Museum and the Museum of Cultures. For film freaks (like me)there is a multiplex with 14 screens, including the biggest in the Nordic region. It is situated next to bus station. Another large and new film centre also calls itself a palace: it is Kinopalatsi and you will find it in Kaisanieminkatu near the Railway Station. (I prefer Tennispalatsi myself) Don't be afraid, the movies are original versions with subtitles (exception;some kids' movies)
Esplanadi during a summer day !
Esplanadi is I think one of the main place in Helsinki. It is a place covered by grass, where you can lay on, sleep, or just spend your time looking at people.
It is a very pretty place where you can go at every hour of the day, and where you can meet a lot of people. It is a place where we enjoy going with friends from summerschool !

Q: Do busses run to the airport 24/7? If not, what time do they start? "I need to get to the airport by 6 AM on Sunday (so I probably need to get on the bus around 5:30 AM), will the 615 or the Finnair..."
A: "I walked down to where the 615 departs from but I didn't see any type of time-schedule listed anywhere. :/"
