Very plesant independent hotel just out of the city centre proper, but within easy walking distance. There is a tram stop just around the corner, from where it is 4 stops to the main railway station, or 5 stops (in the other direction) to the Silja Line ferry terminal.

The hotel is located in the south part of the city, one block south of Bulevardi, on Uudenmaankatu - between Frederikinkatu and Annankatu. There is quite a lively bar scene in this area (the "Leningrad Cowboys" bar is in the same street), which is also noted for the abundance of interesting turn-of-the-century (Jugendstil and national romantic) architecture, and second-hand bookshops.

The hotel itself is fully up to our standards - clean, modern and stylish, with helpful staff and a nice top-floor breakfast room that also does a good value lunch.

We first stayed here in August 1999 on our first visit to Finland, and had a very enjoyable time. The rooms are clean, comfortable and modern, and good value in the winter season compared with many other Helsinki hotels. We stayed here again in March 2003, and our opinion remains unaltered.

Unique Quality: Good value. Close to good nightlife.
