Okay!
In Helsinki we stayed six nights at the Radisson SAS Seaside. It was not our type of hotel, because it is too huge, we are just two of many guests, the room we had was okay, big enough, with a harbourview, the beds were soft, so my friend put his mattrass on the floor and slept there... the breakfast was very good, a wide variety of food, excellent!!! So it certainly is an okay hotel, but not especially what we are looking for...
Unique Quality: great breakfast!!

Former dairy factory turned hotel
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. First off, being that the hotel was a former dairy factory, it's nature allowed for a very exciting and different experience. I believe there are two different and distinctive wings to the hotel, the old and the new. It is my understanding that I stayed in the new section of the hotel. The hallways are brick and the rooms are furnished with very Scandinavian looking furniture, sort of like an Ikea showroom. The hotel offered all the amenities and facilities I was looking for. The big draw was that is right across the street from the sea and just a bit further down is the seaport. Friendly staff, a fantastic breakfast, and a clean and peaceful decor in the room proved to lend itself to a great time.
Unique Quality: The hotel is right outside of the city center but the good thing is there is a tram right down the street from the hotel, which is very useful. One can walk to the center, it takes around 15 minutes, but the tram makes everything easier. One can also walk to the seaport where ships embark for Estonia and other destinations.

Near one of the harbours and Boulevard!
I stayed at the hotel shortly after it became an Radisson SAS hotel. The rooms are comfortable and the staff friendly.
I have stayed since then and it is much more finished and comfortable - the rooms are warm and comfortable - it is built in a former factory.
Good restaurant - Viola. There is also a business centre for free access to the internet.
Unique Quality: welcoming and comfortable - good breakfast and a good restauarnt, Viola, for dinner too!

Business hotel by the sea
Unique Quality: Besides of that the hotel is situated by the sea, it has also an intresting history. The building has been a dairy laboratory and cheece factory.
There are many pillars in the older part of the building.
The hotel is within a couple of minutes walk of the West Terminal sea port, terminal for most Tallinn boats.

One good hotel in Helsinki is...
One good hotel in Helsinki is Hotel Seaside. The address is Ruoholahdenranta 3, and it is situated next to the sea, as the name says. It is situated in the central, not far from anything. This hotel has good www sites: www.seasidehotel.fi also in English.

have a look at 'Seaside Hotel'...
have a look at 'Seaside Hotel' ! close to the harbour really big rooms (Captain's class) friendly service ... and moderately priced sorry .. I can't remember the average price it was a business trip .. my company payed the hotel ;-)
Unique Quality: nice 'marine styled' bar & gambling area in the 12th floor (or was it 15th ?) floor of the hotel. Especially in summer, you can sit outside on the balcony and watch ships, cargo vessels as well as huge cruise liner, while having a cool gin tonic ;-)

Radisson Blu Seaside Hotel, Helsinki Photo: Near the city center by tram
In Helsinki, hotels are quite expensive, but still the best place to stay in.In the center of Helsinki there are many hotels and places to stay. For example Hotel Arthur. If you want a cheap one take Eurohostel! about 440 finnish marks/night in Arthur, about 120 finnish marks/night in Eurohostel

Do anybody have som recommandations for this hotel? Is it far from the city centre? Is it difficult to get back to the hotel from our party at Suomenlinna?
Q:City for 1 day with baby "Hi,
We are planning 1-day trip to Helsinki with 11 mounths children in March. We will be on foot and weather will be probably..."
A: "Send a request to VT member "Fugu", if she doesn't respond to this posting. She lives in Helsinki and is a mother of a baby boy. She'd know all about that!"
