Very central
This is allmost as central as you can get! We were quite up, and view was to the Tavastia-club, famous rock-club of Helsinki. I don´t think it would have bothered anyone who don´t like rock-music. We didn´t hear anything from there.
Room was very nice and new. Must say, that we were little disapointment when they said we would get a doubble bed, and we didn´t. But you could move the beds together.
Can´t find anything else witch would harm us.
Sokos hotels have better breakfast than these Scandic-hotels, becouse these Scanic-hotels are little "too healhty". Maybe it wouldn´t mind at longer stay, but one night at weekend we would like to have something unhealhty too ;) Like Sokos-hotels have sometinhg sweet also and so on.
Prices change a lot depending on the time of the yaer and so on.
Unique Quality: Location is unique! So central! And parking is very cheap at weekends. (NOt REALLY cheap, but cheap to be in Helsinki!)
Rooms have French window, I think that might be nice at summer!
Gym and sauna, but those are allmost a must at Finnish hotel.

Good location & very decent room
Very good location, close to the train station and the major shopping malls. It is on the not-so busy or heavy traffic area of the city. The room is very above average, so is the shower. The staff is great and helpful. The breakfast buffet reminds me of those in Malaysia, lots to choose from, spoilt for choice. Free wireless internet connection.
Unique Quality: Free sauna in the lower floor, it is a very Finnish thing.

Very convienant, but dated.
Perfect location, clean, and good service, but the room was definatly dated and for any hotel over $100 per night you can at least replace the stained bed covers....
Prices are more like $100-$150 per night. We came on a Tallink package deal from Tallinn Estonia, so I'm not sure exactly what our cost was.
Unique Quality: Next door to the hotel is the Kamppi shopping mall;you don't even need to go outside to go to it. Inside Kamppi there are also some very good restaurants so you are not stuck eating at the same restaurant every night or having to go on some long vision quest to find a good meal. If you want to eat cheap, there is a lot of that around too. Two of Helsinki's Cinemas are very close and all of the central shopping too.

Attached to big shopping complex
I stayed one night at Scandic Simonkenttä. It is located right in the city center and attached both to Forum and Kamppi shopping centers. One can take an elevator (lift) down to the shopping center.
They have 360 rooms of which 320 are non-smoking.
If you do check out their webpages, you will find the "English" language tab on top left corner.
I stayed there: Aug 08.
Unique Quality: The hotel has lots of organic food at the breakfast buffet table. What I did like about the breakfast room was the view to the city. Do not take me wrong it is not breathtaking but the walls are totally made out of glass, so one can really see the city very well. The breakfast room is on the ground floor, so not spectaculous views out of there, but...
LOCATION: one is totally in the city center while in this hotel.
CASH: 50 metres left, on the opposite side of street there is an OTTO-machine where you can take money with your Visa or Master card. It is attached to the wall, yellow sign with white letters saying OTTO.
INTERNET: free internet at the lobby. Two PC's offers guest to spend 15mins at time on the internet free of charge.
Iron board in the room. TV, telephone. Clean and safe rooms.
ONE MINUS: maybe I'm getting old but I do not like the fact that shower is in the bath tube. I mean one needs to climb to the bath tube first, in order to take a shower. It can be pretty slippery!

Scandic Simonkenttä
A newer Scandic hotel by the Kamppi centre (Kampin keskus).
Very good location right in the city centre with easy access to the shops, railway station, trams and bus station. Standard rooms are nice, clean and comfortable, and although rather "compact", they do have bathtubs in the bathroom.
Unique Quality: Good location in the city centre.

Great location!
A big, modern hotel in the centre of Helsinki. Stayed in this hotel twice, mainly because of the location, which it's central, but away from the busy main street. All the sights are within 5-10 minutes walk. It's right next to the new shopping centre Kamppi, where you'll also find bus and underground station. In fact, you don't even have to go outside to enter the shopping centre as it's accessible straight from the hotel.
The rooms are spacious, clean and modernly decorated. There's TV, minibar, air conditioning, safe and wireless LAN in all rooms. The room price includes breakfast and free access to the gym and sauna. I didn't try the gym nor the sauna, but I really enjoyed the huge breakfast buffet.
The service was friendly and checking in and out was quick and easy.

Scandinavian design
The hotel has very nice, simple but also modern interior. The rooms are a portrait of typical Scandinavian design, lots of light wood and simple lines.
They have used eco-friendly materials when decorating the rooms.
Unique Quality: There are gym, three saunas, a cafe and couple of restaurants.
The location is very good, but at the moment (year 2004) it's noisy because there's a huge building site just by its side.

a sauna with a view
Very modern hotel with scandinavian decor with lots of wood and fresh colors. Pleasant staff, good restaurant with excellent service, and very nice rooms. Very good location.
Unique Quality: Deluxe room, which comes with its own sauna( with a window) and a big balcony both overlooking the city, was really nice and something different.
