“Original Sokos Hotel”

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on November 11, 2014

In October of 2014 we stayed our first time in “Original Sokos Hotel” hotel in Helsinki, Finland. We booked and stayed in triple room #505. Everything was very good. Hotel situated in the center of Helsinki. It takes only five minutes to get the Railway Station from the hotel by walk where you can take the trains to any other town of Finland or to Saint Petersburg and Moscow, Russia. It takes only three hours and fifty minutes to travel to Saint Petersburg, Russia by “Allegro” train. Big hypermarkets such as the “Stockman”, “Forum” and “Sokos” are situated in walking distance. The National Museum of Finland and Ferry Boat terminal are situated in ten-fifteen minutes walking distance. Taking that ferry boat you can get the Suomenlinna (Sveaborg) fortress with its museums. It will take about eighteen minutes walk to get the Military Museum at the intersection of Maurinkatu and Liisankatu Streets.
There were the TV set, refrigerator with mini bar, central heating and air conditioner in the room. Such useful thing as the d iron was also found in the room. Bath room was big enough but without bathtub, instead there was shower cabin. It was big enough for even very tall and very fat person. The floor in the bath room was warmed by the heater. Hairdryer is available in the bathroom too. Everything was quite new and clean. Free Wi Fi is available in the Hotel. Free storage room is available before check in and after check out procedures.
Food in the restaurant was good and plentiful.
All personnel were very helpful and spoke fluent English. So, my conclusion is that hotel is excellent to stay in triple room!

Good central hotel

Convenient location in central Helsinki, easy walking distance to Railway Station and to most interesting sights such as old indoor Market Hall, Uspenski Cathedral and Eteläkauppatori (where the ferries to Zoo and to Suomenlinna leave). Friendly service. Double room was spacious, clean and quiet. Our room had a view towards Helsinki Cathedral.

Unique Quality: Part of Sokos Hotels chain.

We had a nice stay at the Sokos Hotel in Helsinki. The room was big and confortable with a nice bathroom.

Unique Quality: The hotel is very centrally located and everything was within walking distance.

The breakfast table was excellent with a lot of choice, everything from cheese, fish and meat till fruits and vegetables among different brands of bread, cereals etc, etc.

Directions: In the middle of the city centre, close to the Helsinki Cathedral.

Great location

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

The hotel is situated in the city centre between Ateneum & Senate Square, a perfect location for the sights, shops & nightlife.

It has 202 rooms which were refurbished in 2006-2007. The hotel has a restaurant, summer terrace & a night club. My impression of it was of a modern efficient business like hotel, but also an ideal place for tourists.
