typical hi hostel
stayed in this hostel for 4 nights in Summer 2006 a very nice place to stay!it's clean and very good for socializing in the kitchen(someone has defined it too crowded,but i enjoy it!)and in the dining room, it's quite central(about 20 min. on foot to city centre) and well connected with public transports.moreover i fell in love with the wonderful helsinki sky from the little hill beside the hostel...and what can i say about the nature around and the incredible meetings with rabbits,foxes and squirrels ??there the stadium area too,in which you can see some soccer matchs!
it's due to say that i slept in a double room and probably dormitories weren't confortable as the private.it's a big hostel,of course.even good for family or older people.
staff was really friendly and kind.
I wouldn't have a problem with staying there again
Unique Quality: although a bit of a hike from town on foot,the location is perfect to relax your self and breath nature.

Budget Accommodation
This hostel provides a very basic accommodation for budget travellers. It is located at the Olympic Stadium, about 1,5km from the central railway station and is easily accessibly by trams. Beds in a dorm start from €17/person. One off charge for the linen hire is €4 although you are welcome to bring your own linen or even a sleeping bag. Breakfast is served at the price of €5,50.

stay cheap at the olympic stadium
in helsinki they have build a youth hoste in to the olympic stadium from the 1952 olympic games.
the rooms there are basic and clean and you have what you need as long as you are ok with shared shower and toilet facilities.
the staff was very friendly and helpful when i was there.
young people who really seemed to enjoy working there.
if you are after basic and cheap accomodation in a special setting then this is the place for you.
Unique Quality: the setting inside the olympic stadium is certainly unique.

A Hostel in a Stadium?
Stadion Hostel was the first youth hostel I've ever stayed in on my own. And after staying there, I decided that "hostelling" is my new favorite hobby...
Nothing about this place was amazing or anything, but it was a great experience. There was a common room where everyone was watching the Olympics (interesting since we were in the Olympic stadium) on TV late into the night, everyone cheering for his own country. In the dorm style room where I stayed, I met all these girls, some from Germany, one from Columbia, etc, and ended up spending the day with one of them. Everyone was friendly and I had no trouble sleeping. Showers are communal (by gender) if you care about that, and they don't give you towels when you rent your linens.. but someone was willing to share. I'm definitely bringing sheets and towels with me from now on, in any case...
Unique Quality: The hostel is in the freakin stadium building... you have to walk halfway around the building to find the entrance. It's under the Olympic Tower, so if you want to go up in the tower when you wake up in the morning.. it's right there. I didn't do it though.

Have you ever slept in a stadium?
This hostel is made under the tiers of the Olympic stadium of helsinki and, for this reason, it is a nice and unusual experience.
It is a bit far from the center but you can catch a tram (3B or 7B) that in 5 minutes will bring you to the railway station or, if you want you can walk for 15-20 minutes.
The price is about 15 € per night in a room with 8-9 beds.
The staff is kind.

Nice hostel , odd people
Hostel rather unusually built into the side of the Olympic stadium , nice secure car park for the Silver Whore and decent sized dorms.
However the used to refuse to let us have a mixed dorm even when the place was empty , the breakfast was a rip off at 5 Euro's and some of the people could only be described as rather odd ( See warnings ) . Also had a tendancy to be full of bloody schoolkids.
Unique Quality: The 2 a.m curfew - why?????????????????
Various Olympic displays that looked like they'd been pinched from the museum. Really large poster of KISS in our room.

Nice, clean and Warm
Arrived late at night, was booked into my single room with great speed and efficiency. Also there was plenty of hot water available for a shower to relax those tired muscles after the long trip from UK. The young lady on the front desk was even kind enough to arange for a taxi the following day to pick me up and take me onwards on my trip

Olympic Stadium Hostel
The hostel is in the Olympic Stadium, where the Olympics were held in 1952. The location of the hostel in quite good, only 2.5 km from the city centre, which is only a few minutes by tram or bus.
Unique Quality: Since it is located in the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Tower is right next door. The hostel also has a sauna in connection with the swimming stadium. Internet facilities are also present.

Q: Do busses run to the airport 24/7? If not, what time do they start? "I need to get to the airport by 6 AM on Sunday (so I probably need to get on the bus around 5:30 AM), will the 615 or the Finnair..."
