Pesäpallo
by empbu
The pesäpallo (the American version of the game is called baseball :-))... except that pesäpallo is very far from it and, in my opinion, much more fascinating) season began in May and will go on until September. The team of Kouvola, KPL (Kouvolan Pallonlyöjät) is playing in the top league this year, can't wait to see how it goes for them. :) I go see every game I possibly can (there's also someone special playing so it's much more exciting!).
Travelling to Suomi with the band

"Rytmi Katti Gig"
In May 2005 I went to Finland with the band for 2 shows- first we went to Pori and our 2nd stop was Kouvola, a small town in South/ Eastern Finland, not too far from the Russian border. Unfortunately, as usual when travelling with the band, I did not get to see much of the town. But the best thing about going to Kouvola was meeting lots of nice and interesting people at the concert.
The band played at a place called Rytmi Katti which means Rhythm Cat- don't ask me why! :)
Kouvala

I spent a little time in this town between train and bus connections. This is the city center to which you can walk straight up from the railway/busstation. There is this pedestrian shopping street which also has a fast food restaurant.

Kouvola

"Stop for food, but otherwise there's not much"
If you go to Kouvola, the only really really "must" is to visit the great Spanish restaurant Olé. It is the best steak restaurant I've ever been to. The food is superb, especially the Pork Catalonia is to die for. I've never had a bad meal there, the quality of the food is excellent from day to day.
Kouvola is a sleepy little town. During the summer there is a small amusement park, which can be of interest to families with quite young children.
