Sokos Hotel Ilves

I stayed at Sokos Hotel Ilves for one night in July 2011 and had a very pleasant stay in this 4 star hotel located in the centre of Tampere, right on the banks of Tammerkoski. Ilves is the tallest hotel in town with 19 storeys and so it offers great views. Our standard room was on the 6th floor, so for better views you should choose a superior room, which are located in the upper floors. The room itself was nice and clean, nothing fancy but a simple and modern decor, which is usual for Sokos Hotels. Besides a minibar, there was also tea and coffee making facilities in the room.

The service at the reception was very friendly and both checking in and out went smoothly. There's a snack bar at the reception open 24 h, which was convenient, although quite pricey.

The breakfast room got quite crowded, but there was plenty of food for everyone, but still I'd recommend getting there as early as possible to get a good table.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel for everyone, as it's so close to everything and because of the great facilities.

Unique Quality: Sokos Hotel Ilves is located next to a shopping mall Koskikeskus and there are various restaurants right in the hotel premises, so you don't have to leave the hotel to look for a place to have dinner. One of the most popular night clubs in town can also be found at the hotel Ilves.

There's an inside swimming pool in the hotel and the guests can use it free of charge (at least this was the situation at the time of our stay).

Excellent hotel!Best Hotel bed I have ever slept in, so comfortable. The room was very well equipped with tea/coffee, mini bar the same price as the bar, a real hair dryer, iron and board and flat tv. Ice machine in the hall. Never heard a sound from the hallway or next door. Breakfast was huge, a virtual feast all diets are covered. Loads of places to eat within the hotel that covers all tastes. The night club on Friday and Saturday nites was great anyone and everyone goes to it, music to cheer all. Rooms at the back of the hotel had beautiful views and avoided the nightclub revelers at the front of the hotel. People travel for miles to this club and many come from as far as Helsinki to it and stay overnight at the hotel. But as a 40+ couple it was the only place to stay.

Probably the best hotel in Tampere and my favourite one. it is on a great location where its easy to go for dinner or pubs. Has a great view from the high floors and fantastic breakfast.

Directions: In the centre, just look up and see it.

Unique Quality: A big hotel of a good standard. Saunas and pool, views over the city, night clubs, several restaurants, shopping right by the hotel in Koskikeskus (nearly 100 shops and boutiques)

Directions: Right by the Koskikeskus mall. Tall, dark building, you simply cannot miss it!
