Russell Guest House, Eckerö by hopang Russel Guest House is a small guest house with less than ten rooms for budget travellers and golfers just for your overnight accommodation. The amenities are simple and basic with bathrooms at the corridor. Nevertheless the buffét breakfast is excellent, it has to be said. There is a golf clubhouse in front of the guest house complete with café cum restaurant and a sports shop mainly dealing in golf products and accessories. A golf driving range is located in front of the clubhouse for the convenience of golfers who need to polish up their golfing skills!
Golf driving range and clubhouse are located at its vicinity. Theme: Bed and BreakfastPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: least expensiveAddress: Eckerö, Åland

by Gili_S The Scandic network of hotels, which was bought by the Hilton few years back is a great network of hotels around Finland, Scandinavia and the Baltic stats. I received few times great offers from them also for family pack. The bonus is that with each stay, I get also extra miles on my flight operator programs. :)

This is a very nice hotel, very comfortable and the service is excellent. If you are fond of birds then this is the place to stay as it is a hotel aimed mainly for birdwatchers! You can walk in the vicinities and see a lot of birds. Around 30km away is the Liminganlahti Bird Sanctuary. If you are not planning to rent a car you can cycle quite easily as the landscape is virtually flat. You do not even need a map - just following the road signs is enough [tried and tested successfully!]
Just 4 minutes away from Oulu airport

Snowy trees by finlandia Bengtskar Lighthouse is the highest (52 meters) lighthouse in the Nordic countries. It was built in 1906 and it is the first lighthouse museum in Finland. You can stay overnight in the old home of the lighthouse keeper! All rooms have a sea view. Prices 55-100 euros per night including breakfast and sauna. The accomodation must be booked in advance. Bengtskar is the most southern inhabited place in Finland. The nearest village is Rosala, about 18 kilometers north of Bengtskar. There is Rosala Viking Centre there. Take a ferry from Kasnas to Bengtskar and on the way you can visit Rosala Viking Centre.

In the beginning of February Finnish Aki Kaurismaki got the Guldbagge Award for the Best Foreign Language Film in Sweden. Aki Kaurismaki owns a hotel-restaurant named Oiva in Nummi-Pusula (Ikkala), 65 kilometers from Helsinki. You can see the atmosphere of his films in this cozy hotel with old styled furniture! Cool! N.B. Unfortunately this hotel is closed now!

by Elina80 Once again an exciting and a low-budget option: A TEN
Camping in the woods or by a lake or wherever else where there is no people is nice. It's all about the atmosphere and the nature. It's nice waking up in the morning and feel the fresh air. As you can imagine camping in the winter might be a bit hardcore sometimes (at least in Finland, depending on the westher of course), but I've tried that as well. You really need to try your limits sometimes! Theme: CampgroundComparison: least expensiveDirections: Around some areas there are specific places to put a tent (campingareas) for which you obviously need to pay for, but you can also feel free to camp in the wilderness!

by nathasha should you not have a chance to spend xmas with finnish friends'family, it is worthwhile to know that there are actually 'family farms' on the beautiful country side, where you will be taken as a guest to their own home, and get to experience all genuine xmas traditions there :)) i am not sure about the costs of such a holiday, but please contact the finnish tourist office, they can most certainly help you :)) Theme: Other

by Elina80 This is kind of a joke, but I've actually stayed a night in one of these (which I built myself!)!!: THE IGLU
When you build one correctly and light a candle inside before you 'go to bed', you will know by the light of the candle that there is enough air inside. It's not as cold as you would think, it's actually warmer inside than out! It is also very romantic, I can tell!!
