Jyväskylä is a university town. In the autumn the students organize a boozing event called "The Kauppakatu Approbatur". Kauppakatu Street is the main street in town and has quite a few restaurants and bars, too. During the event the students get points of each beer they order (only one in each restaurant along the street). After the required points they end up in a night club celebrating together. In 2008 the magical night will be the second of October.
Many of the students wear special overalls during these events. Each group has its own. So if you visit Jyväskylä in October and see plenty of young people in white caps and colourfull overalls drunk in the centre of the town, this is the reason (or it is the smaller event when the "old ones" of each subject or faculty teach the "new ones" the student habits of Jyväskylä).
