Wooden houses
by Sjalen
Naantali is full of the wooden houses you can see in my pictures. Just walk around the Old Town and get lost in the alleys. Watching a man dressed as superman bike around with a cuddly sheep in his bike basket. He was probably on his way to the boat with the inflatable doll! Stag nights are the same everywhere! :-)))
A graveyard in Naantali
by Laura_Mexico
I took this picture because this graveyard is quite different from the ones I saw in other European cities and the ones we have in Mexico.... the tombstones here are quite short, they all look rather the same, are made from the same material apparently, and have plants and flowers growing up right in front of them. It looks lovely, not gloomy and sad as graveyards usually are..... of course it is the summer and everything looks bright and colorful in this season, so maybe the place is not so nice to look at during the winter.
Midsummer Fiesta on Kuparivuori
by adventura
At the Midsummer Night people gather on the hill nearby center around the fire. From the hill they may look at other fires, e.g. before the presidential cottage. (A lesson: The imperative sentence "Collect the fire woods!" is denoted in Finnish language "Kokko kokko kokko!") Note that the photo has been taken at the midnight!
President's Summer residence
by Sjalen
Palace would be more appropriate...
Kultaranta, or Gullranda in Swedish, is the name of the official summer residence of Finland's presidents. The house was built for a local tradesman in 1916 and also includes a nice garden. You can visit it all year round on guided tours but enquire at the tourist office for times. It's otherwise best seen from a boat, or at a distance from the Moomin World. Then you can also see if the president is in residence (if the flag is up).
Landscape from the waterfront
by Muya
Surrounded by the sea, glittering under the shining autumn sun, the view that stretches in front of you is stunning. Nature is once again so beautiful and captivating… nothing left to do but sit on a bench and contemplate…
Such an idyllic place !
